66 FIRST GRAIN OF SAND interrogations-after having observed not just my interroga- tions but also my humility and love, and also owing to the fact that he was a Christian—had a very positive opinion of me. Even more amazingly, the translator for my interrogations [the young Turkish man who spoke both Persian and Russian] himself joined the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community as a new convert to the Faith after just the second interrogation. He came to me and pri- vately told me himself in Persian that he had become an Ahmadi Muslim. During this period when I was held under intense suspi- cion, he supported me, constantly comforted me, and helped me in every way he could. Often when the interrogating officer asked a complex question, he would not only translate it but would tell me in Persian how I should best answer the question.
