TRANSFER TO ASHGABAT 29 knowledge by learning how to speak Russian. This way, whenever I am freed from this place, this new language can be of benefit to me. Nevertheless, while they kept warning me, I remained focused on my work. At night, I would wait until the guard left and would then begin writing in Russian. Anything new I learned during the day, I would spend the night writing it down to memorize it so that the next day I could learn a new lesson from my instructor. Ashgabat is a city with a high population of Bahais, who even had a place of worship in the city. There were even Bahai business- men in Ashgabat. Bahai men would also come into my cell as cap- tives, and seeing them inspired me to passionately pray that God Almighty erase disbelief from this part of the earth and spread the Ahmadiyya Movement in this land. I prayed for God to bring about the circumstances so that the Ahmadiyya Movement pre- vails here and to let these people be enlightened by the light of faith that has been revealed by God Himself during these dark times. Since I had never been arrested nor even seen the inside of a prison before, staying at Artyk and now here at Ashgabat gener- ated some fear inside of me that would fill my heart with grief. When other prisoners would adamantly assert again and again that I would be taken very far away and remain a captive long into the future, I would bow down in front of God Almighty and offer fervent prayers seeking His help. I then saw in a clear dream that Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih II was delivering his Friday Sermon, and I was sitting at his right side.
