نار النوى fire آنار : It a thing) gave light or shone brightly. أَنَارَ الْمَكَانَ : He illumined or lighted the place. اَنَارَهُ : He elucidated it; he rendered it manifest or conspicuous أَنَارَ اللهُ بُرْهَانَهُ : God taught him his proof. نَارٌ : Fire )2:18( نُوْرٌ : Light. syn. ضِيَاءٌ or ضَوْءٌ According to some ضِيَاءٌ is more intensive than نُورٌ also ضِيَاءٌ is essential but نُوْرٌ is accidental light. نُورٌ is opposed to darkness. جَعَلَ الظُّلُمَاتِ وَالنُّوْرَ : He (God) has created darkness and light )6:2(. In the Qur'an نُورٌ is also applied to the Holy Prophet. جَاءَ كُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ نُوْرٌ وَّكِتَابٌ مُّبِينٌ : There has come to you from Allah a Light and a clear Book (5:16). It is also one of the names of God. اللَّهُ نُوْرُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ : God is the Light of the heavens and the earth )24:36(. For a difference between نُوْرٌ and ضِيَاءٌ see No. 909. It also means that which makes things manifest. وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّوْرَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ مَعَهُ : And they follow the light which has been sent down with him )7:158( مُنِيرٌ )act. part. from اَنَارَ( : Plainly apparent; conspicuous; manifest; illuminating الْكِتَابِ الْمُنِيْرِ : The illuminating Book (3:185). نَاصَ ]aor. يَنُوْصُ inf. noun نَاصَ عَنْ قَرِيْنِهِ . [ نَوْصٌ : He fled from or kept away from or left his associate. نَاصَ فَلانًا : He missed such a one and went ahead of him لاتَ حِيْنَ مَنَاصٍ : There is no time or place of refuge (38:4). نَاقَ نَامَ aor. يَوْقُ inf. noun نَوَّقَ الْجَمَلَ نَوْقٌ : He broke in or trained a camel. نَاقَةٌ : She-camel هذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً : This she-camel of Allah a Sign for you (7:74). ]aor. يَنُوْمٌ inf. noun نَامَهُ نَوْمٌ : He overcame or defeated him in sleeping. نام : He lay; slept or felt sleepy or drowsy; he died. نَامَتْ رِجْلَهُ : His foot became benumbed. نَامَتِ السُّوقُ : The market became dull. نَوْمٌ : Sleep; slumber; drowsiness. لا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلا نَوْمٌ : Slumber seizes Him not, nor sleep )2:56( مَنَامٌ : Dream; sleep; : I see in a dream أَرَى فِي الْمَنَامِ time of sleep; bed room. )37:103( نَائِمٌ : One who is asleep. نَائِمُوْنَ )plural of بَيَاتًا وَّهُمْ . نَائِمٌ نَائِمُوْنَ : By night while they are asleep (7:98).
