لمس لها behind thy back and the former, one who does so to thy face; or the latter, one who speaks against the lineages of men, and the former, one who speaks against the characters of men; or the latter with the tongue and the former with the eye; or the reverse; or the latter signifies one who excites discord or animosity between two persons. لَمَسَ ]aor يَلْمُسُ and يَلْمِسُ inf. noun لَمَسَهُ لَمْسٌ : He felt it or touched it or felt or touched it with his hand. فَلَمَسُوْهُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ : And they had felt or touched it with their hands )68( الْتَمَسَ : He sought or sought after. فَالْتَمِسُوْا نُوْرًا : And seek for light )57:14(. لَمَّ ]aor. يَكُمُ inf. noun لَمَّ اللَّهُ شَعْتَهُ لَمَّا : May God rectify or repair his disorganized affair. أَصَابَهُ لَمَمٌ : A slight insanity or diabolical possession or a slight taint of insanity touched him. لَمَمٌ : Pardonable sin; slight madness, craziness )53:33( لَمَّا : Wholly completely . تَأْكُلُوْنَ التَّرَاثَ اكْلًا لَّمَّا : You devour the heritage completely (89:20). لَهَبَ aor. يَلْهَبُ inf. noun لَهَبَتِ النَّارُ لَهَبٌ : The fire burnt fiercely or blazed لَهَبٌ : The flame of fire or its blaze; burning thirst. نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ : A blazing fire )1114( لَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ : Nor protecting from the flame (77:32). لَهَتْ لَهِتَ ]aor. يَنْهَتُ inf. noun : He (dog or a man) was thirsty, or thirst heated his inside; he was fatigued or weary; he put forth his tongue on account of thirst or weariness or fatigue. يَلْهَتْ : He hangs out his tongue (7:177). لَهِمَ ]aor. يَلْهُمُ inf. noun الْهَمَهُ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِلْخَيْرِ لَهْمًا : God directed him لَهَا by inspiration to that which was good: God revealed to him or put into his mind that which was good. فَاَلْهَمَهَا فُجُوْرَهَا : So He revealed to it what is wrong for it . . . . . . (91:9). ]aor. يَلْهُمْ inf. noun لَهَا الرَّجُلُ لَهْوًا : The man jested, sported. لَهَتْ إِلَى حَدِيْتِهِ : She loved his talk, became delighted with it. لَهَا عَنْهُ وَلَهِيَ : He became diverted from it so as to forget it. أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ : Mutual rivalry in seeking worldly increase diverts you (from God( )1022( فَاَنْتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهُى : Him dost thou neglect )80:11( لَاهِيَةٌ 741
