لقى 1 : لَقَطْتُ الْعِلْمَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ . The bird picked up the grains : الطَّائِرُ الْحَبَّ لقف acquired knowledge from the book الْتَقَطَةُ : He stumbled upon a thing unexpectedly without seeking it. لَقِيْتُهُ اِلْتِقَاطًا : I met him unexpectedly . يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ السَّيَّارَةِ : Some of the travellers will pick him up (12:11). لَقِفَ ]aor. يَلْقَفُ inf. noun لَقِفَ الشَّيْءَ لَقْفًا : He seized or took up quickly a thing thrown to him with the hand or said to him. الطَّعَامَ : He ate quickly or devoured or swallowed the food. تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُوْنَ : Swallowed up what they fabricated their lies falsehoods (7:118). لَقِمَ ]aor. يَلْقَمُ inf. noun لَقِمَ الطَّعَامَ لَقْمًا : He swallowed the food quickly. فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوْتُ : The fish swallowed him )37:143(. لَقِيَ aor. يَلْقَى inf. noun لَقِيَهُ لِقَاءٌ : He met him; he found him; he saw him. إِذَا لَقُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوْا : When they meet the believers )2:15( لَقَدْ لَقِيْنَا مِنْ سَفَرِنَا هَذَا نَصَبًا : We have suffered much fatigue in this journey )18:63( يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّا : They will meet with destruction )19:00( يَلْقَ أَثَامًا : He shall meet with the punishment of sin )25:69( لَقَاهُ شَرًّا : He made him to experience evil. لَقَاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُوْرًا : He will grant them cheerfulness and happiness )76:12(. تَلَقَّاهُ مِنْهُ : He received it from him. إِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى الْقُرْآنَ : Verily thou hast been given the Qur'an )27:7( وَمَا يُلَقْهَا إِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ صَبَرُوْا : And none is granted it save those who are steadfast )11:36( لَقَاهُ : He met him face to face; he had an interview with him. حَتَّى يُلاقُوا يَوْمَهُمْ : Until they meet their day )43:84( الْقَاهُ : He threw it or cast it on the ground. فَاَلْقَى عَصَاهُ : So he threw down his staff or rod. فَأَلْقَوْا إِلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلَ : They conveyed the word to them or communicated to them, or retorted on them with the saying )1:87( الْقَى إِلَيْهِ سِرَّهُ : He revealed to him his secret. الْقَى إِلَيْهِ السَّمْعَ : He gave him ear; he inclined to hear him. الْقَى السَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ : He gives ear and is attentive )50:38( الْقَيْنَا عَلَى كُرْسِيّه : We placed on his throne )38:35( الْقَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ الْمَوَدَّةَ أَوْ بِالْمَوَدَّةِ : I offered or tendered to him love. تُسِرُّونَ إِلَيْهِمْ بِالْمَوَدَّةِ : You send them message of love in secret; you offer them love in secret )602( الْتَقَى الْقَوْمُ : The people met each other. يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ : The day when two 739
