انی انس people derive it from اَلنَّوْسُ signifying "motion", some others say that it is originally إِنْسِيَانُ from اَلنِّسْيَانُ )forgetfulness. It is said: إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ إِنْسَانًا لَأَنَّهُ عَهِدَ إِلَيْهِ فَنَسِيَ : He was only named إِنْسَانُ because he was commanded and forgot. إِنْسَانُ also means إِنْسَانُ الْعَيْنِ : The image that is reflected in the black of the eye; the pupil or apple of the eye; or the black of the eye. It also means the land that is not cultivated. وَحَمَلَهَا الْإِنْسَانُ : But man bore it )33:73( يَوْمَ نَدْعُوْا كُلُّ أناس : Remember the day when We shall summon every people )1:72( is syn with أناسٌ being a contraction thereof and means: Men; mankind people رَبُّ النَّاسِ : Lord of men; Lord of mankind. أَنَفَ ]aor. يَأْنِفُ and يَأْتُفُ inf. noun اَنْفَهُ أَنْفًا : He struck his nose (inf. noun أَنِفَ أَنْفُ )aor )أَنِفَ مِنْهُ يَأْنَفُ : He turned up his nose at it; he hated it (inf. noun آنِفًا = آنِفٌ أَنَفٌ : In the beginning; just now; a little while ago; in the first time; near. مَاذَا قَالَ آئِفًا : What he has been talking about just now (47:17). و الْأَنَامُ الانام and انی : Mankind and the jinn or what are on the surface of the earth )الْخَلْقُ ; everything having a soul; or every one who is subject to sleep as though it were derived from وَالْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا . اَلنَّوْمُ انام : And He has set the earth for His creatures )55:11(. ]aor. يَأْنِي inf. noun أَنِّي and اَنْيُّ and اَنَاءٌ and 1) : جَاءَ اَنَاهُ إِنِّي( Its time came; it was or became or drew near; (2) it attained to its full or final time or state; (3) it became mature or ripe or it became thoroughly cooked. اَلَمْ يَأْن لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا : Has not the time come for those who believe )57:17( غَيْرَ نَاظِرِينَ إِنَاهُ : Without waiting for its appointed time; without waiting for it having been cooked )3:54( أَنَى الْمَاءُ The water became hot to the utmost degree آئی الْحَمِيمُ : The hot water became hot to the utmost degree. )4( آنی also means, it (a thing) was or became behind its time; delayed. إِنِّي )and إِنِّيَّ and إِنْوٌّ and إِنِّي and )أَنَّى( : An hour or a short portion of time; or an indefinite time; a time of the night; any hour of the night; or the whole day. مَضَى إِنِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ : A time of the night passed. )آناء plural( آنائِ ِالَّيْلِ : Hours of the night )20:131( يُقَالُ آنَاءُ اللَّيْلِ وَأَطْرَاقُ النَّهَارِ : Meaning the day and the night. آئی as also 42
