غنی غنم : )8:42( غَلَمٌ : Sheep and goats (and both together). It has no singular from which it is derived, the singular being شَاةٌ : The dual غَسَمَان is used as meaning two flocks or herds of sheep or of goats or of both together. The plurals are أَغْنَامٌ and غُنُوْمٌ sometimes used to mean flocks or herds of وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ وَالْغَنَمِ غَنَمٌ And of the oxen and the sheep and goats )6:147( غَنِيْمَةَ and مَعْنَمٌ : Spoil, booty or plunder; the acquisition of a thing without difficulty or inconvenience. The plural of غَنِيْمَةٌ is غَنَائِمُ and that of مَغْنَمٌ is وَعَدَكُمُ اللَّهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةً مَغَائِمُ : God has promised you great spoils (48:21). See under 1187) فَاءَ( غَنِيَ ]aor. يَغْنَى inf. noun غَنِيَ الرَّجُلُ غِنِّي : The man married. غَنِيَ بِالْمَكَانِ : He lived in the place. غَنِىَ بِمَكَانِ كَذَا : He dwelt long in such a place satisfied therewith so as to be in no need of any other. كان لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيْهَا : As if they had never dwelt therein )11:69( غَنِيَ فُلانٌ : He lived. Syn. كَاَنْ لَّمْ تَغْنَ بِالْاَمْسِ عَاشَ : As if nothing was in existence yesterday or the day before )10:25( غَنِىَ inf. noun غِنّى and غِنَاءٌ and غُنْيَانًا[ : He was or became free from want; he was in a state of content or sufficiency; he was rich or wealthy. الغنى being the contr. of الْفَقْرُ and syn with غَنِيَ بِالشَّيْءِ عَنْ غَيْرِهِ الْعَيَارُ : He was satisfied or content with the thing so as to be in no need of another thing. اَغْنَاهُ : He rendered him free from want or possessed of wealth or rich; he enriched him. فَسَوْفَ يُغْنِيْكُمُ اللَّهُ : Allah will enrich you )19:28( مَا اَغْنَى شَيْئًا : It will not benefit or profit. وَلا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ : Nor profit or protect from the flame )77:32( مَا يُغْنِي عَنْكَ كَذَا : This does not suffice, satisfy thee or stand thee in good stead or serve thee and avail thee or profit thee. مَا أَغْنِى عَنِّي مَالِيَهْ : My wealth has been of no avail to me )69:29( شَأْنُ يُغْنِيْهِ : concern that will make him indifferent to others )80:38( أَغْنِ عَنِّي كَذَا : Put thou away from me or remove far from me وَمَا أُغْنِي عَنْكُمْ مِّنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ : I cannot be of any avail or remove any thing from you decreed to come from God (12:68). غَنِيَ عَنْهُ وَاسْتَغْنَى عَنْهُ : He was indifferent to him. أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَى : Who is indifferent; who is free from any need )80:6( استغنى : He was indifferent, independent, free from want. غَنِيٌّ )act. part. from 625
