طاب طوى narration. طَوَى الْبَلادَ : He traversed one country after another طَوَى الْبَشْرَ : He built or cased the well with bricks طَوَى اللَّهُ الْبُعْدَ لَنَا : May God contract the distance for us. طَوَاهُ may be rendered: He caused it to pass away or to come to naught; he destroyed it or annihilated it. مى : Folding rolling up fold يَوْمَ نَطْوِي السَّمَاءَ كَطَيّ السِّجِلٌ لِلْكُتُبِ : The day when We shall roll up the heavens as a recorder rolleth up written scrolls )21:105( مَطْوِيَّةٌ : )Feminine of مَطْوِيٌّ( is pass. part. from اِمْرَءَ ةٌ مَطْوِيَّةُ الْخَلْقِ طَوَى : A plump woman or a woman compacted or rounded in make. بِشِّرٌ مَطْوِيَّةٌ : A well cased with stones or bricks. )مَطْوِيَّاتُ is plural( وَالسَّمواتِ مَطْوِيَّاتٌ بِيَمِينِهِ : And the heavens rolled up in His right hand )39:68(. طَابَ aor. يَطِيْبُ inf. noun طِيْبٌ and طِيِّبَةٌ and طَابٌ and طُوبَى and تَطْيَابٌ : )1( it was or became the cont. of خَبِيْتُ i. e. it was or became or was esteemed good i. e. delightful delicious, sweet etc; (2) it was or became pure or clean. طَابَتْ نَفْسُهُ : He himself was or became cheerful, happy . طَابَ عَيْشُهُ : His life was pleasant and plentiful. طِبْتُمْ فَادْخُلُوْهَا : Be ye happy and enter it )39:74( فَعَلْتُ : طَابَ عَنِ الشَّيْءِ نَفْسًا . I did that of my own free will : ذَلِكَ بِطِيْبَةِ نَفْسٍ He willingly gave up the thing. فَإِنْ طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِّنْهُ نَفْسًا : If they willingly or of their own accord remit unto you a part thereof )5( اب : It became lawful. طَابَ لِيْ كَذَا : Such a thing became lawful for me. فَانْكِحُوْا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِّنَ النِّسَاءِ : So marry of the women such as are lawful to you or as seem good to you )4:4( طَبَتِ الْاَرْضُ : The land became abundant in herbage طُوبى : Of the measure of فُعْلى from اَلطَّيْبُ originally طيبى an infinitive of طَابَ and feminine of اَحْيَبُ meaning a good final or ultimate state or condition; good, good fortune; favour or blessing; external life; pleasant life. طُوبَى لِلشَّامِ : May good betide Syria. طوبی لَکَ and طُوْبَاكَ : Good betide thee. طُوبَاكَ يَا لَيْتَنَا إِيَّاكَ طُوْبَاكَ مَرَّتْ بِنَا سَحَرًا طَيْرٌ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا A flock of birds passed by us a little before day-break, and I said to them, good betide you: Would that we were you, good betide you. طُوبَى لَهُمْ وَحُسْنُ مَابِ : Happiness shall be their lot and an excellent place of return )13:30( طَيِّبٌ cont of 1) : خَحَبِيْتُ( 534
