طفل طف what he does and transgresses other people and devours their property; a thunderbolt; an appellation of the kings of طُغْيَانٌ ; the cry of punishment; also syn with فَأُهْلِكُوْا بِالطَّاغِيَةِ طَاغِيَّةٌ : They were destroyed by a violent blast, or on account of their transgression (69:6); (feminine of الطَّاغِ( طَفَّ ]aor. يَطُفُّ and يَطِفُّ inf. noun طَقَّ الشَّيْءُ مِنْهُ [طَفٌ : The thing was or became near to it. طَفَّفَ : He made defective or deficient طَفَفَ الْمِكْيَالَ : He gave short measure and short weight; he made the content of the measure to be defective and in like manner of the balance. طَفَّفَ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ : He was niggardly towards his family expenditure. طَفَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ : The sun drew near to setting. وَيْلٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ : Woe unto those who give short measure )832( مُطَقِّفٌ )act. part. (. مُطَفِّفِينَ )plural) of طَفِيْفٌ مُطَفِّفٌ : Little in quantity; low, base, vile, mean, paltry. طَفِيُّ ]aor. يَطْفَيُّ inf. noun طَفِئَتِ النَّارُ طُفُوْءٌ : The fire became extinguished or quenched, or it ceased to flame and its live coals became cool. When the flame of the fire becomes allayed but its coals still burn, it is said to be خَامِدَةٌ ; but when its flame is extinct and its coals have become cool, it is said to be هَا مِدَةٌ and طَفِئَتْ عَيْنُهُ طَافِئَةٌ : The light of his eye is gone. أَطْفَا النَّارَ : He extinguished the fire. أَطْفَاْ الْفِتْنَةَ وَأَطْفَاَ الْحَرْبَ : He extinguished the fire of the war and he allayed the sedition أَطْفَاَهَا اللهُ : God extinguishes it (5:65). لک : طَفِقَ يَفْعَلُ كَذَا [ طُفُوْق and طَفْقٌ inf. noun يَطْفِقُ . aor طَفَقَ and يَطْفَقُ . aor] طَفِقَ He began and continued uninterruptedly to do such a thing. فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًا بِالسُّوْقِ وَالْأَعْنَاقِ : Then he began and continued to pass his hand over (their) legs and necks )38:34( طَفِقَ الْمَوْضِعَ : He kept to the place. طَفِقَ فُلانٌ بِمَا أَرَادَ : Such a one attained that what he desired.
