طبق طبع 28 طَبَعَ ]aor. يَطْبَعُ inf. noun طبع : He sealed, stamped, imprinted or impressed (syn. ختم(. Imam Raghib says that طبع signifies the figuring of a thing with some particular form. But it is more general in signification than خَتْمٌ and more particular than نَقْشُ According to some other lexicologists طَبْع and خَتْمٌ both signify the covering, over a thing. طَبَعَ الشَّيْءَ : He figured the thing with a particular form. طَبَعَ عَلَيْهِ : He sealed it. طَبَعَ اللَّهُ عَلَى قَلْبِهِ : God set a seal upon his heart so that he should not heed admonition, nor be disposed to that which is good; or so that belief should not enter it. نَطْبَعُ عَلَى قُلُوْبِهِمْ : We seal up their hearts )7:10( طَبَعَ الله الْخَلْقَ : God created the creation طَبَعَ الشّاةَ : He branded the goat. طُبِعَ عَلَى الشَّيْءِ : He was created with a disposition to the thing or was adopted or disposed by nature there-to (syn. جُبل and فُطِرَ طَبيعَةٌ being the natural constitution or disposition. طبعَ السَّيْفُ : The sword was or became rusty طبع also means, he was or became filthy in character طُبِعَ عَلَى الْجَهْلِ : He was created by nature to be ignorant. طَبَقَتْ يَدُهُ طَبْقُ and طَبَقَ و : His arm stuck to his طَبَقَ ]aor. يَطْبَقُ inf. noun side and would not be stretched forth. أَطْبَقَ الشَّيْءَ : He covered the thing. اَطْبَقْتُ الرَّحِى : I put the upper mill-stone upon the lower. اَطْبَقُوْا عَلَى الْأَمْرِ : They agreed upon the affair. طَابَقَ بَيْنَ قَمِيصَيْنِ : He put on himself two shirts, one over the other. طبق : A thing that is the equal of another thing in its measure so that it covers the whole extent of the latter like the lid. This is its primary signification (plural( هَذَا الشَّيْءُ طِبْقُ هَذَا وَ طِبَاقُهُ أَطْبَاقُ : This thing is the match of this or the like of this in measure, size, quality or the like; a dish or plate; a layer or stratum of earth; a stage; a state of Hell or Heaven; any joint of a limb; a collective number of men or a multitude of men; a generation of mankind; a main portion of the night and the day; a state or condition; difficulty, predicament. جَاءَتِ الْإِبِلُ طَبَقًا وَاحِدًا : The camels came following one another in a single line. لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَنْ طَبَقٍ : You will assuredly pass on from one stage to another, hardships after hardships or degrees of hardship after degrees thereof )84:20( بَنَاتُ طَبَقٍ : Calamities. طباق )syn. with طَبَق and 517
