ضاق ضاق difficult or distressing to him. ضَاقَ ذَرْعُهُ بِهِ i. e. his ability and his power was rendered difficult or he felt helpless on behalf of him. وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا : And felt helpless on their behalf )11:78(. See also under ضَاقَ الرَّجُلُ ذَرَعَ : The man was or became niggardly. ضَيَّقَهُ : He made it strait, narrow ضَيَّقْتُ عَلَيْهِ الشَّيْءَ : I made the thing narrow, or hard for him. صَيَّقْتُ عَلَيْهِ : I straitened him. لِتُضَيِّقُوْا عَلَيْهِنَّ : That you make the life hard for them )65:7(. صَائِقُ )act. part. from ضاق : Being or becoming narrow or contracted. وَضَائِقٌ بِهِ صَدْرُكَ : And thy bosom is becoming straitened thereby )11:13( ضَيْقٌ : Narrow or strait. شَيْءٌ ضَيْقٌ : A narrow or strait thing. صَدْرٌ ضَيْقٌ : A contracted bosom يَجْعَلْ صَدْرَهُ ضَيِّقًا : He (God) makes his bosom narrow )6:126( مَكَان ضَيِّقٍ : A narrow place )25:14( ضَيْقُ الْخُلْقِ : Narrow or illiberal in disposition. الطَّيْقُ وَالصِّيْقُ : Straightness narrowness; what makes a mind contracted of grief or sorrow; distress الضَّيْقُ وَالضَّيَقُ : Doubt. وَلاتَكُ فِي ضَيْقٍ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُوْنَ : And be not in distress or do not feel distressed on account of what they plot (16:128) 513
