ضاق ضاع acted unjustly, wrongfully, tyrannically. ضَازَ فِي الْحُكْمِ : He gave an unjust judgement. ضَازَهُ حَقَّهُ : He deprived him or defrauded him of a part or the whole of his right or due. ضَازَهُ aor. يَضُوْزُهُ( : He refused it to him or withheld it from him. قِسْمَةٌ ضِيْرَى : An unjust, unfair or a defective division (53:23). ضَاعَ ]aor. يَضِيعُ inf. noun ضِيَاعٌ and ضَيْعَةٌ [ : It (a thing) perished, came to naught, passed away or became lost; it was left, let alone or neglected. أَضَاعَ الشَّيْءَ : He made the thing to perish, to become lost; he destroyed it, wasted or lost it; he left or left it alone; he neglected it. أَضَاعُوا الصَّلوةَ : They neglected the Prayer )19:60(. : Let your faith to come to naught or be in vain. لا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ : He (God) does not suffer the reward of those who do good to be lost (9:120). يُضِيعَ إِيْمَانَكُمْ صاف aor. يَضِيْفُ inf. noun ضَافَتِ الشَّمْسُ ضَيْفٌ : The sun inclined or drew near to setting. ضَافَتِ الْمَرْاءَةُ : The woman menstruated. ضَافَ الرَّجُلُ : The man feared. ضَافَهُ )inf. noun ضِيَافَةٌ and ضَيْفٌ( : He alighted as a guest at his abode or demanded or sought entertainment as a guest or hospitality from him. ضَافَهُ الْهَمُّ : Grief alighted upon him or befell him. ضَيَّفَةَ : He made him his guest; he protected him from him who pursued him; he rendered him safe from fear. فَاَبَوْا أَنْ يُضَيّفُوْهُمَا : And they did not offer them hospitality or did not receive them as guests (18:78). ضَيْفٌ : A guest or guests (singular and plural( إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ ضَيْفِي : These are my guests (15:69). ضَاقَتْ بِهِمُ الْأَرْضُ . strait = ضَاقَ aor. يَضِيْقُ inf. noun ضَيْقٌ and ضِيْقٌ[ : It was or became narrow or ضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَرْضُ : The earth became narrow or strait to them )9:118( ضَاقَ عَلَيْهِ الْأَمْرُ : The affair was or became strait for him. ضاقَ صَدْرُهُ : His bosom became strait or contracted. وَيَضِيْقُ صَدْرِى : And my breast is straitened )26:14(. بِعُمْرِكَ مَا ضَاقَتْ بِلادٌ بِأَهْلِهَا . Thy mind shrank from it : ضَاقَ عَنْهُ صَدْرُكَ وَلَكِنَّ أَخْلَاقُ الرِّجَالِ تَضِيْقُ : By thy life, countries have not become narrow with their inhabitants, but the temperaments of the people became narrow ضَاقَ الْمَالُ عَنِ الدُّيُوْنِ : The property was inadequate to meet the debts. ضَاقَ بِالْاَمْرِ زَرْعًا : The affair was 512
