شک شقی tract towards with the traveller directs himself or in the reaching of which one is overtaken by difficulty or a distress; a journey; distance. وِلكِنْ بَعْدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّقَّةُ : But the distance (or hard journey) seemed too long to them )9:42( اَشَقُّ : Harder; more troublesome; more difficult. وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَشَقُّ : But the punishment of the Hereafter is harder (13:35). شَقِى ]aor. يَشْقَى inf. noun شَقَاوَةٌ and شِقَاوَةٌ and 1) : [شِفْرَةٌ( He was or became unprosperous, unfortunate, distressed, unhappy or miserable; شَقِيَ being cont. of سَعِدَ )see) No. 701 and شِقَاوَةٌ cont of 2) : سَعَدَةٌ( he was or became in a state of straitness, distress or difficulty; he suffered or experienced fatigue. شِقَاوَةٌ : Ill-luck unhappiness etc. (syn with رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا شِقْوَةٌ : our Lord our evil fortune overcame us )23:10( شِقَاوَةٌ is of two kinds (a( أُخْرَوِيَّةٌ )relating to the world to come) (b( دُنْيَاوِيَّةٌ )relating to the present world). The latter is of three kinds: نَفْسِيَّةٌ )relating to the soul) and بَدَنِيَّةٌ )relating to the body) and خَارِجِيَّةٌ )relating to external circumstances). It also means fatigue. فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ شَقُوْا : Those who will prove unfortunate )11:107( لِتَشْقَى : That thou may be distressed )20:30( شَقِيٌّ : Unfortunate; miserable. فَمِنْهُمْ شَقِيٌّ وَسَعِيدٌ : Some of them will be unfortunate others fortunate )11:10( اَقی : More and most unfortunate, unprosperous, miserable; more and most fatigued. إِذِ انْبَعَثَ أَشْقَهَا : When the most wretched amongst them got up (91:13). See also No. 701. شَكٍّ aor. يَشُكُ inf. noun یک لک لک شَ الْأَمْرَ شَكٍّ : The affair was or became dubious or confused. شَكٍّ فِي الْأَمْرِ : He doubted, wavered or vacillated in opinion or was uncertain, respecting the affair. شَكٍّ عَلَيْهِ الْأَمْرُ : The affair became confused or dubious to him, or the affair was difficult or hard to him. شَكَكْتُهُ بِالرُّمْح : I pierced him with the arrow. شک : Doubt (cont. of يقين ; wavering; vacillation in opinion between two things whether they be equal (in probability) or such that one outweighs (therein) the other.
