The Hadith has defined as: كُلُّ قَرْضِ يَجُرُّ مَنْفَعَةً فَهُوَ رِبًا : Every loan advanced to draw profit is رِبًا i. e interest يَمْحَقُ اللَّهُ الرِّبوا : Allah will abolish interest )2:277( رَبْوَةٌ )and( رِبْوَةٌ and رُبْوَةٌ( : A hill or elevated ground or place. كَمَثَلِ جَنَّةٍ بِرَبْرَةٍ : Like the case of a garden on elevated ground )2266( راب : Increasing or augmenting. فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً : And He punished them with a punishment exceeding other punishments; a vehement punishment )69:11( أربي : More numerous; more powerful; more abundant in wealth. أَنْ تَكُوْنَ أُمَّةٌ هِيَ اَرْبى : Lest one people become more powerful, more numerous or more abundant in wealth (16:93). 220 رَع ]aor. يَرْتَعُ inf. noun رَزْعُ and رَتُوْعٌ and رَتَاعٌ[ : He (beast) ate and drank what he pleased; he ate and drank with great greediness; he ate and drank plentifully and pleasantly in land of green herbs and waters. It is metaphorically said of man as meaning, he ate much. رَتَعَ فُلانٌ فِي مَالِ فُلان : Such a one acted as he pleased in eating and drinking the property of such a one. خَرَجْنَا نَلْعَبُ وَنَرْتَعْ : We went out sporting and enjoying ourselves. أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَّرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ : Send him with us tomorrow that he may enjoy himself and play (12:13). It is said in a hadith: مَنْ يَّرْتَعْ حَوْلَ الْحِمَى يُوْشِكُ أَنْ يُخَالِطَهُ : He who goes round about the prohibited place of pasturage may enter into it. رَتَعَ فِي الْمَكَانِ : He stayed in the house and ate and drank or enjoyed himself fully and at will فِي لَحْمِ فُلانٍ : He backbited such a one. = رَتَقَ ]aor يَرْتُقُ inf. noun رَتْ[ : He closed up and repaired a rent. رَتَقَ الثَّوْبَ : He repaired the piece of cloth and sewed it up. الرَّتْقُ is the cont. of رَتَقَ فَتْقَهُمْ الْفَتْقُ : He closed up the breach that was between them; he reconciled them; he reformed their affairs. رَتْقُ : Being closed up. كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَهُمَا : They were a closed up mass and We opened them out )21:31( هُوَ الْفَاتِقُ الرَّاتِقُ : He is the reformer of the affair or he is the possessor of command or rule, so that he opens and closes and straitens and widens. رَتْقَاءُ : A woman unfit for coition. 311
