دهر دنا or surpassed him. 1) : دَهْرٌ( Time from the beginning of the world to its end; as also حِيْنٌ : This is the primary signification of this world; )2(. time; a time, or a space or period of time, whether long or short. هَلْ أَتى عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِيْنٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ : There has certainly come upon man a period of time (76:2); (3). along, unlimited time; or an extended indivisible time or time without end; it differs from زَمَانٌ )time) in having no end. لا انيه الدَّهْرَ : I will not come to him ever; (4) an age ) اَدْهُرٌ and دُهُورٌ plural( مَضَى عَلَيْهِ دَهْرٌ : A long time or an age passed over him. صَامَ الدَّهْرَ : He fasted ever or always )5( اَلدَّهْرُ was applied by the Arabs to Fortune or Fate. The Holy Prophet is reported to have said, لا تَسُبُّوا الدَّهْرَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الدَّهْرُ : Do not revile time or fortune, for God himself is 6) ; اَلدَّهْرُ( دَهْرٌ also signifies an evil event or accident; a misfortune; a calamity. ما يُهْلِكُنَا إِلَّا الدَّهْرُ : And nothing but Time (or fate or calamity etc. ) destroys us (45:25); (7). a purpose; an intention; a desire; the end that one has in view; مَا دَهْرِي بِكَذَا : My intention is not this or desire or intention; (8). a custom or habit that lasts throughout life. مَا دَهْرِي بِكَذَا : My habit is not SO. و دَهَقَ aor. يَدْهَقُ inf. noun دَهَقَ الْكَأْسَ أَوْ أَدْهَقَ : [دَهْقُ : Hefilled the cup. دَهَقَ الْمَاءُ : He poured the water violently. دَهَقَ الشَّيْءَ : He broke the thing and cut it. دَهَقَهُ : He beat him كَأْسٌ دِهَاقٌ : Acup full to the brim; a cup so full as to overflow; مَاءٌ دِهَاقٌ : Abundant water also means pure كأسًا دِهَاقًا : Full or pure cup or cups )78:35(. دَهُمَ لک or دَهِمَ ]aor. يَدْهُمُ inf. noun دَهَمَهُ : [دَهْمٌ or دَهِمَهُ الْأَمْرُ : The event came upon him suddenly, took him unawares. دَهِمَتِ النَّارُ الْقِدْرَ : The fire blackened the cookin-pot. اِذْهَمَّ : He (the horse) became black. اِدْهَامٌ الزَّرْعُ : The seed-produce became of a dark green colour by reason of abundance of moisture or irrigation حَدِيقَةٌ دَهْمَاءُ أَوْ حَدِيقَةٌ مُدْهَامَّةٌ : A walled garden green inclining to black جَنَّتَانِ مُدْهَا مَّتَان : Two Gardens dark green with foliage or black by reason of intense greenness arising from abundant moisture; and everything green )اَحْضَرُ(the Arabs call black. أَسْوَدُ : Black)55:65(. لدار دَهَنَ ]aor. يَدْهُنُ and يَدْهَنُ inf. noun دَهَنَ الرَّأْسَ دَهْنٌ : He oiled the hair. دَهَنَ 277
