حفی misuse. حَافِظَاتٌ لِلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ اللَّهُ : And they guard the secrets of their husbands with what Allah has guarded )4:35( وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا : And we guard or protect our brother )1266( وَاحْفَظُوْا أَيْمَانَكُمْ : And do keep your paths )5:90( حَافَظَ عَلَى الْأَمْرِ : He attended or applied himself constantly to the thing or affair. He watched over it. حَافِظُوْا عَلَى الصَّلَواتِ : And watch over the Prayers; attend to your Prayers constantly or perseveringly. )2:23( اِسْتَحْفَظَهُ الشَّيْءَ : He asked him to keep, preserve, guard or take care of the thing; he placed the thing with him to keep it or take care of or guard it; he entrusted the thing to him. بِمَا اسْتَحْفِظُوْا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللهِ : For they were required to preserve the Book of Allah )5:45( حفظ : To take care, being mindful, attentive or regardful; protection or guarding or care. وَلا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا : And the care of them burdens Him not )2:256( بِمَصَابِيحَ وَحِفْظًا : With light and made it to guard )41:13( حَافِظُ and حَفِيظٌ )plural is حَافِظُوْنَ and حَافِظِيْنَ and حُفَّاظٌ and حَفَظَةٌ( : Keeping preserving, and guarding; a Keeper, watcher, guardian defender. رَجُلٌ حَافِظُ الْعَيْنِ : A man whom sleep does not overcome. الطَّرِيقُ الْحَافِظُ : A distinct and direct road. الْحَفِيْظُ : One of the names of God meaning The Preserver and Guardian of all things. فَاللّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظًا : And Allah is the Best Protector )12:65(. وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُوْنَ : And We shall surely guard him well )12:13( وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حَافِظِيْنَ : And we could not keep watch over the unseen )12:82( وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْكُمْ حَفَظَةً : And He sends guardians over you 6 And surely my Lord is guardian : إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَفِيظٌ (6:62) حفظ over all things )11:58( حَافِظَاتٌ )singular حَافِظَةٌ which is feminine of حَافِظُ ( : Guardians. قَانِتَاتٌ حَافِظَاتٌ : Obedient and guardians of the secrets of their husbands )4:35( مَحْفُوْظٌ : Preserved, guarded and taken care of; a young child; a thing kept and retained in the memory. فِي لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوْظٌ : In a guarded tablet )85:23( الْحَافِظُ وَالْحَفِيْظُ : That angel who records the good and evil actions of a man. حَفِيَ ]aor. يَحْفَى inf. noun حَفًا[ : He walked barefooted; his feet became chafed by much walking; his hoof (said of a horse) became abraded; he showed him much honour and kindness and affection; he behaved towards him with benevolence and 194
