CHAPTER TWO FULFILMENT OF PROPHECIES 187 تو ہی بگڑی کو بناوے توڑ دے جب بن چکا تیرے بھیدوں کو نہ پاوے سو کرے کوئی بچار You set aright what is broken, or break it once it is made; None can fathom Your mysteries, no matter how much one reflects. تیرے بن روشن نہ ہووے گو چڑھے سورج ہزار جب کوئی دل ظلمت عصیاں میں ہو وے مبتلا When a heart is afflicted with the darkness of sin, It cannot be enlightened without You, even if a thousand suns were to dawn. اک تری قید محبت ہے جو کر دے رستگار اس جہاں میں خواہش آزادگی بے سود ہے Desire for freedom is of no avail in this world; Being held captive by Your love alone is what bestows salvation. دل وہ ہے جس کو نہیں بے دلبر یکتا قرار دل جو خالی ہو گدازِ عشق سے وہ دل ہے کیا What is the heart that is empty of the fire of love? The true heart is that which cannot find rest without the Unique Beloved. پس کرو اس نفس کو زیر و زبر از بہر یار فقر کی منزل کا ہے اوّل قدم نفی وجود The first step on the spiritual journey is to negate one's self; So, for the sake of the Friend, trample the self under your feet. اس طرح ایماں بھی ہے جب تک نہ ہو کامل پیار تلخ ہوتا ہے ثمر جب تک کہ ہو وہ ناتمام The fruit is sour until it ripens; So is the faith arduous until love is perfected. اے مرے فردوس اعلیٰ اب گرا مجھ پر ثمار تیرے منہ کی بھوک نے دل کو کیا زیر وزبر The longing for Your countenance has turned my heart upside down. O my Highest Paradise! Do now bestow upon me Your fruit.
