لَّا تُدۡرِكُهُ ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرُ وَهُوَ يُدۡرِكُ ٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلۡخَبِيرُ

Eyes cannot reach Him but He reaches the eyes. And He is the Incomprehensible, the All-Aware.

قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ

Verily, he truly prospers who purifies himself,

وَذَكَرَ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ

And remembers the name of his Lord and offers Prayers.

بَلۡ تُؤۡثِرُونَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا

But you prefer the life of this world,

وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرٞ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ

Whereas the Hereafter is better and more lasting.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ

This indeed is what is taught in the former Scriptures —

صُحُفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ

The Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.

وَتِلۡكَ حُجَّتُنَآ ءَاتَيۡنَٰهَآ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ عَلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ ۚ نَرۡفَعُ دَرَجَٰتٖ مَّن نَّشَآءُ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٞ

And that is Our argument which We gave to Abraham against his people. We exalt in degrees of rank whomso We please. Thy Lord is indeed Wise, All-Knowing.

وَوَهَبۡنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسۡحَٰقَ وَيَعۡقُوبَ ۚ كُلًّا هَدَيۡنَا ۚ وَنُوحًا هَدَيۡنَا مِن قَبۡلُ ۖ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِۦ دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيۡمَٰنَ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُوسُفَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ

And We gave him Isaac and Jacob; each did We guide aright, and Noah did We guide aright aforetime, and of his progeny, David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus do We reward those who do good.

وَزَكَرِيَّا وَيَحۡيَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَإِلۡيَاسَ ۖ كُلّٞ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

And We guided Zachariah and John and Jesus and Elias; each one of them was of the virtuous.

وَإِسۡمَٰعِيلَ وَٱلۡيَسَعَ وَيُونُسَ وَلُوطٗا ۚ وَكُلّٗا فَضَّلۡنَا عَلَى ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

And We also guided Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot; and each one did We exalt above the people.

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَدَى ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَبِهُدَىٰهُمُ ٱقۡتَدِهۡ

These it is whom Allah guided aright, so follow thou their guidance.

فَقَدۡ لَبِثۡتُ فِيكُمۡ عُمُرٗا

I have indeed lived among you a whole lifetime before this.

لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ

Nay! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection.

وَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ

And I do call to witness the self-accusing soul, that the Day of Judgment is a certainty.

فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَا

And He revealed to it what is wrong for it and what is right for it —

وَأَنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡمُنتَهَىٰ

And that to thy Lord do all things ultimately go;

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَضۡحَكَ وَأَبۡكَىٰ

And that it is He Who makes men laugh and makes them weep;

وَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحۡيَا

And that it is He Who causes death and gives life;

وَأَنَّهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱلزَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰ

And that He creates the pairs, male and female,

مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ إِذَا تُمۡنَىٰ

From a sperm-drop when it is poured forth;

تَبَٰرَكَ ٱلَّذِي بِيَدِهِ ٱلۡمُلۡكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٌ

Blessed is He in Whose hand is the kingdom, and He has power over all things;

ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ وَٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ لِيَبۡلُوَكُمۡ أَيُّكُمۡ أَحۡسَنُ عَمَلٗا ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡغَفُورُ

Who has created death and life that He might try you — which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving.

ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ سَبۡعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقٗا ۖ مَّا تَرَىٰ فِي خَلۡقِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ مِن تَفَٰوُتٖ ۖ فَٱرۡجِعِ ٱلۡبَصَرَ هَلۡ تَرَىٰ مِن فُطُورٖ

Who has created seven heavens in harmony. No incongruity canst thou see in the creation of the Gracious God. Then look again: Seest thou any flaw?

ثُمَّ ٱرۡجِعِ ٱلۡبَصَرَ كَرَّتَيۡنِ يَنقَلِبۡ إِلَيۡكَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ خَاسِئٗا وَهُوَ حَسِيرٞ

Aye, look again, and yet again, thy sight will only return unto thee confused and fatigued.

فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ

Saying, ‘I am your Lord, the most high.’

فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ

So Allah seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and the present world.

وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فَإِنَّ حِزۡبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَ

And those who take Allah and His Messenger and the believers for friends should rest assured that it is the party of Allah that must triumph.

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعۡوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلۡيَسۡتَجِيبُواْ لِي وَلۡيُؤۡمِنُواْ بِي لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡشُدُونَ

And when My servants ask thee about Me, say: ‘I am near. I answer the prayer of the supplicant when he prays to Me. So they should hearken to Me and believe in Me, that they may follow the right way.’

يُثَبِّتُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ ٱلثَّابِتِ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَفِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ ۖ

Allah strengthens the believers with the word that is firmly established, both in the present life and in the Hereafter

وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ

And when the she-camels, tenmonth pregnant, are abandoned,

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ

And when books are spread abroad.

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ

And when people are brought together,

تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

On the day when the quaking earth shall quake.

تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ

And a second quaking shall follow it.

وَإِن مِّن قَرۡيَةٍ إِلَّا نَحۡنُ مُهۡلِكُوهَا قَبۡلَ يَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ أَوۡ مُعَذِّبُوهَا

There is not a township but We shall destroy it before the Day of Resurrection, or punish it.

وَٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُواْ فِينَا لَنَهۡدِيَنَّهُمۡ سُبُلَنَا

And as for those who strive in Our path — We will surely guide them in Our ways.
