بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.

وَّاٰخَرِیۡنَ مِنۡہُمۡ

And among others from among them

لَقَدۡ جَآءَكُمۡ رَسُولٞ مِّنۡ أَنفُسِكُمۡ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيۡهِ مَا عَنِتُّمۡ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيۡكُم بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ رَءُوفٞ رَّحِيمٞ

Surely, a Messenger has come unto you from among yourselves; grievous to him is that you should fall into trouble; he is ardently desirous of your welfare; and to the believers he is compassionate, merciful.

اَشِدَّآءُ عَلَی الۡکُفَّارِ

are hard against the disbelievers

کَزَرۡعٍ اَخۡرَجَ شَطۡـَٔہٗ

like unto a seed-produce that sends forth its sprout

اٰخَرِیۡنَ مِنۡہُمۡ

others from among them

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds,

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The Gracious, the Merciful,

مَٰلِكِ يَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ

Master of the Day of Judgment.

لَہُ الۡحَمدُ فِی الۡاُوۡلٰی وَالۡاٰخِرَۃِ

To Him belongs all praise in the beginning and the Hereafter.

ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds,

وَکَانَ بِالۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ رَحِیۡمًا

And He is Merciful to the believers.

لَہُ الۡحَمۡد فِی الۡاُوۡلٰی وَالۡاٰخِرَۃِ

To Him belongs all praise in the beginning and the Hereafter.

ثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ

A large party from among the early Muslims,

وَثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ

And a large party from the later ones.

وَّاٰخَرِیۡنَ مِنۡہُمۡ لَمَّا یَلۡحَقُوۡا بِہِمۡ

And among others from among them who have not yet joined them

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ

And I call to witness the night as it passes away,

وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

And the dawn as it begins to breathe,

یٰۤاَرۡضُ ابۡلَعِیۡ

‘O earth, swallow thy water

يَوۡمَئِذٖ تُحَدِّثُ أَخۡبَارَهَا

That day will she tell her news,

إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ

Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help.

ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ

Guide us in the right path —

صِرَاطَ الَّذِیۡنَ اَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَیۡہِمۡ

The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings,

وَعَدَ اللّٰہُ الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا مِنۡکُمۡ

Allah has promised to those among you who believe.

فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّیۡتَنِیۡ

but since Thou didst cause me to die

کَمَا اسۡتَخۡلَفَ الَّذِیۡنَ مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِمۡ

as He made Successors from among those who were before them

فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّیۡتَنِیۡ

but since Thou didst cause me to die

فِیۡہَا تَحۡیَوۡنَ وَفِیۡہَا تَمُوۡتُوۡنَ

Therein shall you live, and therein shall you die

قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِ الرُّسُلُ

Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him

اَمۡوَاتٌ غَیۡرُ اَحۡیَآءٍ

They are dead, not living

فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّیۡتَنِیۡ

but since Thou didst cause me to die

وَلَقَدۡ نَصَرَکُمُ اللّٰہُ بِبَدۡرٍ وَّاَنۡتُمۡ اَذِلَّۃٌ

And Allah had already helped you at Badr when you were weak.

غَیۡرِ الۡمَغۡضُوۡبِ عَلَیۡہِمۡ وَلَا الضَّآلِّیۡنَ

Those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, and those who have not gone astray.

لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ

‘He begets not, nor is He begotten;

الۡوَسۡوَاسِ الۡخَنَّاسِ

the sneaking whisperer

ولٰکِنۡ رَّسُوۡلَ اللّٰہِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِیّٖنَ

but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets

مُحَمَّدٌ رَّسُوۡلُ اللّٰہِ ؕ وَالَّذِیۡنَ مَعَہٗۤ اَشِدَّآءُ عَلَی الۡکُفَّارِ رُحَمَآءُ بَیۡنَہُمۡ

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those who are with him are hard against the disbelievers, tender among themselves.

مَا کَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ اَبَاۤ اَحَدٍ مِّنۡ رِّجَالِکُمۡ وَلٰکِن رَّسُوۡلَ اللّٰہِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِیّٖنَ

Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets

لَا یُظۡہِرُ عَلٰی غَیۡبِہٖۤ اَحَدًا

e reveals not His secrets to any one,

اِلَّا مَنِ ارۡتَضٰی مِنۡ رَّسُوۡلٍ

Except to him whom He chooses, namely a Messenger of His.

ٱهۡدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ

Guide us in the right path —

صِرَاطَ الَّذِیۡنَ اَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَیۡہِمۡ

e reveals not His secrets to any one,

اِلَّا مَنِ ارۡتَضٰی مِنۡ رَّسُوۡلٍ

وَسَیَعۡلَمُ الَّذِیۡنَ ظَلَمُوۡۤا اَیَّ مُنۡقَلَبٍ یَّنۡقَلِبُوۡنَ

And the wrongdoers will soon know to what place of return they shall return.

لَا یُظۡہِرُ عَلٰی غَیۡبِہٖۤ اَحَدًا

e reveals not His secrets to any one,

وَّاٰخَرِیۡنَ مِنۡہُمۡ لَمَّا یَلۡحَقُوۡا بِہِمۡ

And among others from among them who have not yet joined them

وَّاٰخَرِیۡنَ مِنۡہُمۡ

And among others from among them

وَّاٰخَرِیۡنَ مِنۡہُمۡ لَمَّا یَلۡحَقُوۡا بِہِمۡ

And among others from among them who have not yet joined them

وَلٰکنۡ رَّسُوۡلَ اللّٰہِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِیّٖنَ

but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets

وَّاٰخَرِیۡنَ مِنۡہُمۡ

And among others from among them

إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ

Surely We have given thee abundance of good;

رَبَّنَا افۡتَحۡ بَیۡنَنَا وَبَیۡنَ قَوۡمِنَا بِالۡحَقِّ وَاَنۡتَ خَیۡرُ الۡفٰتِحِیۡنَ

O our Lord, decide Thou between us and between our people with truth, and Thou art the Best of those who decide.

وَجِیۡہًا فِی الدُّنۡیَا وَالۡاٰخِرَۃِ وَمِنَ الۡمُقَرَّبِیۡنَ

honoured in this world and in the next, and of those who are granted nearness to God

عَلَّمۡنٰہُ مِنۡ لَّدُنَّا عِلۡمًا

whom We had taught knowledge from Ourself

لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡ

We have not mentioned

فَاذۡکُرُوا اللّٰہَ کَذِکۡرِکُمۡ اٰبَآءَکُمۡ

celebrate the praises of Allah as you celebrated the praises of your fathers

قُلۡ یٰعِبَادِیَ

Say, “O My servants"

یَدُ اللّٰہِ فَوۡقَ اَیۡدِیۡہِمۡ

The hand of Allah is over their hands.

اَمَّنۡ یُّجِیۡبُ الۡمُضۡطَرَّ

Or, Who answers the distressed person

مَا دُعٰٓؤُا الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ اِلَّا فِیۡ ضَلٰلٍ

But the prayer of disbelievers is of no avail.

ءَاَنۡتَ قُلۡتَ لِلنَّاسِ

didst thou say to men

اَکۡمَلۡتُ لَکُمۡ دِیۡنَکمۡ

I perfected your religion for you

قُلۡ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ

Say, ‘O ye disbelievers!

لَآ أَعۡبُدُ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ

‘I worship not that which you worship;

فَبِاَیِّ

In which

حَدِیۡثٍۭ بَعۡدَہٗ یُؤۡمِنُوۡنَ

In which word then, after this, will they believe?

فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّیۡتَنِیۡ

but since Thou didst cause me to die

بَلۡ رَّفَعَہُ اللّٰہُ اِلَیۡہِ

On the contrary, Allah exalted him to Himself

الضَّآلِّیۡنَ

those who have gone astray

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ كِفَاتًا

Have We not made the earth so as to hold

أَحۡيَآءٗ وَأَمۡوَٰتٗا

The living and the dead?

وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ اِلَّا رَسُوۡلٌ ۚ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِنۡ قَبۡلِہِ الرُّسُلُ

And Muhammad is only a Messenger. Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him

فِیۡہَا تَحۡیَوۡنَ وَفِیۡہَا تَمُوۡتُوۡنَ

Therein shall you live, and therein shall you die

اِذۡ اَنۡتُمۡ قَلِیۡلٌ مُّسۡتَضۡعَفُوۡنَ فِی الۡاَرۡضِ تَخَافُوۡنَ اَنۡ یَّتَخَطَّفَکُمُ النَّاسُ فَاٰوٰٮکُمۡ

when you were few and deemed weak in the land, and were in fear lest people should snatch you away, but He sheltered you

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةٗ وَءَاوَيۡنَٰهُمَآ إِلَىٰ رَبۡوَةٖ ذَاتِ قَرَارٖ وَمَعِينٖ

And We made the son of Mary and his mother a Sign, and gave them refuge on an elevated land of green valleys and springs of running water.

أَلَمۡ يَجِدۡكَ يَتِيمٗا فَـَٔاوَىٰ

Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter?

سَاٰوِیۡۤ اِلٰی جَبَلٍ یَّعۡصِمُنِیۡ مِنَ الۡمَآءِ

I shall soon betake myself to a mountain which will shelter me from the water.

فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّیۡتَنِیۡ

but since Thou didst cause me to die

وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يُعۡرِضُواْ وَيَقُولُواْ سِحۡرٞ مُّسۡتَمِرّٞ

And if they see a Sign, they turn away and say, ‘A passing feat of magic.’

فَلَا یُظۡہِرُ عَلٰی غَیۡبِہٖۤ اَحَدًا

He reveals not His secrets to any one,

اِلَّا مَنِ ارۡتَضٰی مِنۡ رَّسُوۡلٍ

Except to him whom He chooses, namely a Messenger of His.

اِذۡ کَفَفۡتُ بَنِیۡۤ اِسۡرَآءِیۡلَ عَنۡکَ

when I restrained the children of Israel from putting thee to death

وَاللّٰہُ یَعۡصِمُکَ مِنَ النَّاسِ

And Allah will protect thee from men.

اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ اتَّخذُوا الۡعِجۡلَ سَیَنَالُہُمۡ غَضَبٌ مِّنۡ رَّبِّہِمۡ وَذِلَّۃٌ فِی الۡحَیٰوۃِ الدُّنۡیَا

As to those who took the calf for worship, wrath from their Lord shall overtake them and abasement in the present life.

لَاۤ اِکۡرَاہَ فِی الدِّیۡنِ

There should be no compulsion in religion.

فَإِذَا سَوَّيۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُواْ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ

‘So when I have fashioned him in perfection and have breathed into him of My Spirit, fall ye down in submission to him.’

ثُمَّ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ

Then he drew nearer to God; then he came down to mankind,

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ

So that he became, as it were, one chord to two bows or closer still.

اَللّٰہُ لَاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ھُوَ ۚ اَلۡحَیُّ الۡقَیُّوۡمُ

Allah — there is no God but He, the Living, the Self-Subsisting and All-Sustaining.

إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ

Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help.

وَاسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۡۢبِکَ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ

and ask forgiveness for thy frailties, and for believing men and believing women

وَاسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۡۢبِکَ

and ask forgiveness for thy frailties

وَاِذۡ اَخَذَ اللّٰہُ مِیۡثَاقَ النَّبِیّٖنَ لَمَاۤ اٰتَیۡتُکُمۡ مِّنۡ کِتٰبٍ وَّحِکۡمَۃٍ ثُمَّ جَآءَکُمۡ رَسُوۡلٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَکُمۡ لَتُؤۡمِنُنَّ بِہٖ وَلَتَنۡصُرُنَّہٗ ؕ قَالَ ءَاَقۡرَرۡتُمۡ وَاَخَذۡتُمۡ عَلٰی ذٰلِکُمۡ اِصۡرِیۡ ؕ قَالُوۡۤا اَقۡرَرۡنَا

And remember the time when Allah took a covenant from the people through the Prophets, saying: ‘Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger, fulfilling that which is with you, you shall believe in him and help him.’ And He said: ‘Do you agree, and do you accept the responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?’ They said, ‘We agree;’

یَّاۡتِ رَبَّہٗ مُجۡرِمًا فَاِنَّ لَہٗ جَہَنَّمَ ؕ لَا یَمُوۡتُ فِیۡہَا وَلَا یَحۡیٰی

he who comes to his Lord a sinner — for him is Hell; he shall neither die therein nor live

وَاسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۡۢبِکَ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ وَالۡمُؤۡمِنٰتِ

and ask forgiveness for thy frailties, and for believing men and believing women

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ إِلَّا رَحۡمَةٗ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples.

قُلۡ اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ تُحِبُّوۡنَ اللّٰہَ فَاتَّبِعُونِیۡ یُحۡبِبۡکُمُ اللّٰہُ وَیَغۡفِرۡ لَکُمۡ ذُنُوۡبَکُمۡ

Say, ‘If you love Allah, follow me: then will Allah love you and forgive you your faults.

حَبَّبَ اِلَیۡکُمُ الۡاِیۡمَانَ وَزَیَّنَہٗ فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِکُمۡ وَکَرَّہَ اِلَیۡکُمُ الۡکُفۡرَ وَالۡفُسُوۡقَ وَالۡعِصۡیَانَ

Allah has endeared the faith to you and has made it look beautiful to your hearts, and He has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience hateful to you.

مَا رَمَیۡتَ اِذۡ رَمَیۡتَ وَلٰکِنَّ اللّٰہَ رَمٰی

And thou threwest not when thou didst throw, but it was Allah Who threw

وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ

Nor does he speak out of his own desire.

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡيٞ يُوحَىٰ

It is nothing but pure revelation that has been revealed by God.
