رَبَّنَا ٱفۡتَحۡ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَ قَوۡمِنَا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡفَٰتِحِينَ-

O our Lord, decide Thou between us and between our people with truth, and Thou art the Best of those who decide.’

وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ

And when the she-camels, tenmonth pregnant, are abandoned,

وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٞ قَدۡ خَلَتۡ مِن قَبۡلِهِ ٱلرُّسُلُ ۚ

And Muhammad is only a Messenger. Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَرۡسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلۡحَقِّ لِيُظۡهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ

He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions.

إِنَّ ٱلۡمُنَٰفِقِينَ فِي ٱلدَّرۡكِ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمۡ نَصِيرًا-

The hypocrites shall surely be in the lowest depth of the Fire; and thou shalt find no helper for them,

غَيۡرِ ٱلۡمَغۡضُوبِ عَلَيۡهِمۡ

Thy displeasure.

وَبِكُفۡرِهِمۡ وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ عَلَىٰ مَرۡيَمَ بُهۡتَٰنًا عَظِيمٗا

And because of their disbelief and their uttering against Mary a grievous calumny,

وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ إِنَّا قَتَلۡنَا ٱلۡمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَٰكِن شُبِّهَ لَهُمۡ ۚ

And their saying, ‘We did kill the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah;’ whereas they slew him not, nor crucified him, but he was made to appear to them like one crucified; and those who differ therein are certainly in a state of doubt about it;

فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيۡتَنِي-

But since Thou didst cause me to die.

مَا قُلۡتُ لَهُمۡ إِلَّا مَآ أَمَرۡتَنِي بِهِۦٓ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمۡ ۚ وَكُنتُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ شَهِيدٗا مَّا دُمۡتُ فِيهِمۡ ۖ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيۡتَنِي كُنتَ أَنتَ ٱلرَّقِيبَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ۚ وَأَنتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ

“I said nothing to them except that which Thou didst command me — ‘Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.’ And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since Thou didst cause me to die, Thou hast been the Watcher over them; and Thou art Witness over all things.

تِلۡكَ إِذٗا قِسۡمَةٞ ضِيزَىٰٓ

That indeed is an unfair division.

وَءَاوَيۡنَٰهُمَآ إِلَىٰ رَبۡوَةٖ ذَاتِ قَرَارٖ وَمَعِينٖ-

And gave them refuge on an elevated land of green valleys and springs of running water.

إِنَّهُۥ لَعِلۡمٞ لِّلسَّاعَةِ-

He was a sign of the Hour.

ٱقۡتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلۡقَمَرُ

The Hour has drawn nigh, and the moon is rent asunder.

مَثَلٗا لِّبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ

An example for the children of Israel.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَعِلۡمٞ لِّلسَّاعَةِ فَلَا تَمۡتَرُنَّ بِهَا-

So have no doubt about it, but follow me.

لَا تَقۡفُ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌ ۚ

Follow not that of which thou hast no knowledge.

مَثَلٗا لِّبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ-

An example for the children of Israel.

إِنَّا قَتَلۡنَا ٱلۡمَسِيحَ عِيسَى ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ-

‘We did kill the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah;’

إِلَّآ إِذَا تَمَنَّىٰٓ أَلۡقَى ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ فِيٓ أُمۡنِيَّتِهِۦ

But when he sought to attain what he aimed at, Satan put obstacles in the way of what he sought after.

إِنَّ ٱلظَّنَّ لَا يُغۡنِي مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ شَيۡـًٔا ۚ

Surely, conjecture avails nothing against truth.
