Four Questions by Mr. Sirajuddin, a Christian, and their Answers

  • Question 1: Does Islam Offer a Similar Concept of Love and Sacrifice to Christianity?

    لَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰ

    No bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another.

  • 4

    يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفۡسُ ٱلۡمُطۡمَئِنَّةُ

    And thou, O soul at peace!

  • 4

    ٱرۡجِعِيٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةٗ مَّرۡضِيَّةٗ

    Return to thy Lord well pleased with Him and He well pleased with thee.

  • 4

    فَٱدۡخُلِي فِي عِبَٰدِي

    So enter thou among My chosen servants,

  • 4

    وَٱدۡخُلِي جَنَّتِي

    And enter thou My Garden.

  • 20

    بَلَىٰ ۚ مَنۡ أَسۡلَمَ وَجۡهَهُۥ لِلَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحۡسِنٞ فَلَهُۥٓ أَجۡرُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ وَلَا خَوۡفٌ عَلَيۡهِمۡ وَلَا هُمۡ يَحۡزَنُونَ

    Nay, whoever submits himself completely to Allah, and is the doer of good, shall have his reward with his Lord. No fear shall come upon such, neither shall they grieve.

  • 21

    مَن كَانَ فِي هَٰذِهِۦٓ أَعۡمَىٰ فَهُوَ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ أَعۡمَىٰ وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلٗا

    whoso is blind in this world will be blind in the Hereafter, and even more astray from the way.

  • 24

    لَن تَنَالُواْ ٱلۡبِرَّ حَتَّىٰ تُنفِقُواْ مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ

    Never shall you attain to righteousness unless you spend out of that which you love.

  • Question 2: Why Did Islam Fight Other Monotheists, and Must They Convert to Be Saved?

  • 31

    يَٰعِيسَىٰٓ إِنِّي مُتَوَفِّيكَ وَرَافِعُكَ إِلَيَّ

    ‘O Jesus, I will cause thee to die a natural death and will exalt thee to Myself,

  • 32

    ٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحۡيِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَا

    Know that Allah is now quickening the earth after its death.

  • 45

    وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ فَٰسِقُونَ

    And most of them are perfidious.

  • Question 3: Where Does the Quran Use the Word "Love" Regarding God and Humanity?

  • 49

    وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ إِلَّا رَحۡمَةٗ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

    And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples.

  • 50

    تَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ

    Exhort one another to accept truth.

  • 50

    وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡمَرۡحَمَةِ

    And exhort one another to mercy.

  • 51

    إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ وَإِيتَآيِٕ ذِي ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ

    Verily, Allah enjoins justice, and the doing of good to others; and giving like kindred.

  • 53

    قُلۡ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ إِنِّي رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَيۡكُمۡ جَمِيعًا

    Say, ‘O mankind! truly I am a Messenger to you all from Allah

  • 53

    وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ إِلَّا رَحۡمَةٗ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

    And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples.

  • 55

    قُلۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱللَّهَ فَٱتَّبِعُونِي يُحۡبِبۡكُمُ ٱللَّهُ

    Say, ‘If you love Allah, follow me: then will Allah love you

  • 55

    قَدۡ جَآءَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ نُورٞ

    There has come to you indeed from Allah a Light.
