نبیوں میں سب سے بزرگ اور کامیاب نبی 651 اسوہ انسان کامل free from suspicion or ambiguity; and the Koran is a glorious testimony to the unity of God۔The prophet of Mecca rejected the worship of idols and men, of stars and planets, on the rational principle that whatever rises must set, that whatever is born must die, that whatever is corruptible must decay and perish۔۔۔۔the sayings of Mohammed were so many lessons of truth; his actions so many examples of virtue;۔۔۔he asserted the liberty of conscience, and disclaimed the use of religious violence:the deputy of Mecca was astonished by the attention of the faithful to the words and looks of the prophet, by the eagerness with which they collected his spittle, a hair that dropped on the ground, the refuse water of his lustrations, as if they participated in some degree of the prophetic virtue۔'I have seen,' said he, 'the Chosroes of Persia and the Caesar of Rome, but never did I behold a king among his subjects like Mohammad among his companions۔' The devout fervour of enthusiasm acts with more energy and truth than the cold and formal servility of courts۔۔۔۔The chiefs of the Koreish were prostrate at his feet۔'What mercy can you expect from the man whom you have wronged?' 'We confide in the generosity of our kinsman۔' 'And you shall not confide in vain: be gone! you are safe, you are free'۔۔۔۔If the slightest credit may be afforded to the traditions of his wives and companions, he maintained, in the bosom of his family, and to the last moments of his life, the dignity of an apostle, and the faith of an enthusiast;۔۔۔The good sense of Mohammed despised the pomp of royalty; the apostle of God submitted to the menial offices of the family; he kindled the fire, swept the floor, milked the ewes, and mended with his own hands his shoes and his woollen garment۔Disdaining the
