PRAYERS 113 Prayer for Divine Safety ‘Abdul- H am i d, a freed slave of Ban u H a shim relates from his mother, who was a maid in the house of the Holy Prophet sa 's daughter, that the Holy Prophet sa taught his daughter this prayer to recite at dawn and dusk to be encompassed by All a h ’s safety; ْ ْ ﺳُﺒ ﺤَﺎنَ اﻟﻠªِّٰ وَحبَِﻤ ﺪِہ ِ ْ ﻻَ ﻗُﻮَّةَ ا ْﻻَّ ﺑِﺎﻟﻠªِّٰ ﻣَﺎﺷَﺎءَ اﻟﻠL ُªَّٰﺎنَ وَﻣَﺎﻟَﻢ ْﻳَﺸَﺎﻟَﻢ َ ﻳَکُﻦ َْ، ا2َﻠَﻢ ُ اَن َّ اﻟﻠªّٰ Õ ِّ ُﻞL ٰ _َ2 ْ َ ء ٍ ﻗَﺪِﻳ ْﺮ ٌ و ِّاَن َّ اﻟﻠªّٰ َ ﻗَﺪ َْ اَﺣَﺎط َ ﺑِ¤ُﻞ Õ ٍ ء 2ِﻠﻤًﺎ. 227 Holy is All a h with His attributes. No one attains any capability except by All a h ’s Grace. Whatever happens, happens with His will and whatever He does not will never happens. I know All a h is All- powerful and as regards knowledge, He comprehends everything. Hadrat T alaq ra relates that a person came to Hadrat Ab u Dard a ’ ra and said, “Your house has burnt down”. He replied that his house had not burnt down. Then another person came and said to Ab u Dard a ’ ra that his house had burnt down. He replied as before. Then the third person came and said, “A fire did start but it extinguished before reaching your house. ” Hadrat Ab u Dard a ’ ra replied, “I knew for sure that All a h would not let my house burn. ” The people sitting with him said to him, “Both your replies are strange. First you said your house was not burnt and second that you knew All a h would not let it happen”. He replied, ‘My replies were based on the words which I heard from the Holy Prophet. He had said, ‘Whosoever offers this prayer in the morning would not suffer any calamity till the evening and whosoever repeats these words in the evening would not suffer any
