And they will create new and amazing industries. They will also be domi - nant in policy making, management, and good administration. Their resolve for worldly enterprises and their pursuit will be high and they will also excel all others and will be exceptional in their labour and efforts for spreading their faith. In the same way, they will excel all other nations in their living standards, trade, and advanced agriculture, and indeed in everything else. This is what is meant by: 1 ْنِّم ِّلُك ٍبَدَح َنْوُلِسْنَّي For, حَدَب [ h adab ] means elevated ground and نَسْل [ nasl ] means to excel and run ahead. That is, they will excel all other nations in everything that can be considered prestigious and high. This is the chief sign of the people of Latter Days who are named Gog and Magog. And this is also the sign of the mischievous group of Christian clerics who are called the promised Dajj a l [Antichrist]. Since h adab means elevated ground, it indicates that they will achieve all earthly heights, but will be deprived of spiritual heights. This point establishes that these nations of Gog and Magog are known as such because of their national supremacy. And also among this nation are those people who have taken their efforts in spreading misguidance to the extreme and who came to be called the Great Dajj a l. And God Almighty has said that at the height 1. They shall hasten forth from every height ( S u rah al-Anbiy a ’, 21:97). [Publisher]
