(American Edition) 61 Note: A Muslim can also be a prophet as one of the blessings bestowed on the people of Abraham was that of prophethood. (5) The Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him, said, ِنَِ ا َّلَِّین َ َیَتُوْن َ بَعْدِی ِٰلہ اِخْوَا وَاشَوْقَاہ ُ ا I have great love for my broth ers who will come after me. ” (Al - Insānul - Kāmil, Vol. 2, p. 84) In the same book, explaining this Ḥadīth, ‘Allāmah ‘Abdul - Karīm Jīlānī said: َ ُُکِْ الِْلہھِیی نُبُوَّۃ فَھہوُلَء ِ اَنْبِيَاء ُ الَْوْلِيَاء ِ یُرِیْد ُ بِذہ لِک َ نُبُوَّۃ َ الْقُرْب ِ وَالِْع ًْلَم ِ وَالْح ِ ا َّْشِْیْح لت لَِن َّنُبُوَّۃ َ ا ٍ ل َّْشِْیْح ِ اِنْقَطَعَت ْ بِمُحَمَّد ت ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص In this Ḥadīth the prophets and the saints are mentioned. However, this prophethood will witness nearness to Allāh, prophecies, and divine wisdom rather than new laws because law- bearing prophethood has ended with the Holy Prophet Mu ḥ ammad (may peace and b lessing of Allāh be upon him). (Al- Insānul - Kāmil) (6) َ ِ ا ٍَّیَْ وَالْمُرْسَل َِیَْ وَالْٓخِرِیْن َ اِل َّ النَّبِی َيٍِّدَا کُھُول ِ اَھْل ِ الْجَنَّۃ ِ مِن َ الَْوَّل َعَُر ٍ س َ َیَْ بُوْبَکَرٍو Abū Bakr and ‘ Umar are chiefs of the middle-aged people of paradise who are from among the earlier Muslims and Muslims of the latter days but not of the prophets and messengers. (Mishkāt, Chapter on excellences of companions of the Holy Prophet) (7) The Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him, said, َ َِبٌِّ وَل َ رَسُوْل ٌ وَاَل َِِّْ اَل َ اِنَّہ ُ لَیْس َ بَیْنَہ ٗ ن ِفِْ اُم َِِْ اِنَّہ ٗ خَلِيْف “Hearken! There is no prophet and messenger between me and forthcoming Jesus. And hearken! He is the Khal ī fa (successor) of my Ummah. ” ( Ṭabarānī) (8) When his son, Ibrāhīm, passed away, the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him, said لَوعَاش َ ل ََکَن َ صِدٍِّیُقا ا نَبِيَّا “Had Ibrāhīm lived, he would have certainly been a true prophet. ” (Ibn Mājah, Kitābul - Janā’iz) (9) The Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him, said,
