22 that ‘There will be no Prophet after me’, as he simply meant that there would be no Prophet who would abrogate his Shariah. ( Kit a bu-Ta’w i li Mukhtalifil- H ad i th, Im a m Ibn- e-Qat i bah rta, p. 236, Ma t ba‘ Kurdist a n al-‘Āmiyah, Egypt, 1326 AH) From the Indian sub-continent, the famous teacher of Hadith, Hadrat Muhammad Ta hir rta (died 986 AH, 1578 CE), explains Hadrat ‘ A ’ishah’s words as follows: َ ُنَافِی ْ ح: «ل َ نَبِی َّ بَعْدِيْ» لَِنَّہ ٗ اَرَاد َ ل ي َ ْضًا ل ي هٰذَا نَاظِر ٌ اِلٰی نُزُوْل ِ عِیْسٰی وَهٰذَا اَ َنْسَخ ُ شَرْعَہٗ. ي َّ نَبِي This is an indication that Prophet Jesus as is destined to appear in this world again, and his advent will not contra- dict the Holy Prophet’s hadith: ‘There will be no Prophet after me,’ because here the Holy Prophet s as means that there will be no Prophet after him who will abrogate his law.
