Response to the booklet entitled Ilh a m i Girgit 21 Maulaw i Sahib and his ilk to be liars. The divines proclaim that law-bearing prophethood is the only kind of prophethood that has been terminated. In other words, a Prophet independent of Muhammad’s s as Shariah can never appear in this world. But a Prophet who is a follower and subordinate to him s as can come and this is not objectionable. Many Muslim divines have made public their belief in such a possibility. Hadrat Imam ‘ Abdul Wahh a b Sha ‘ r a n i rta, Sheikh ‘Abdul Q a dir Kurdustan i rta, the famous Naqshband i saint Hadrat Mirza Mazharj a n Janan rta, Hadrat Syed ‘Abdul Kar i m Jilan i rta, Hadrat Sheikh B a l i Afand i rta, Hadrat Maul a na Jal a l-ud-D i n R u m i rta, and above all, Ummul Mu’min i n [Mother of the Faithful] Hadrat A’ishah Siddiqah ra, all held this belief. Hadrat A’ishah ra once said: ُ قُوْلُوْا خَاتَم النَّبِيّين وَل َ تَقُوْلُوْا ل َ نَبِي َّ بَعْدَه Call him (i. e. Muhammad s as ) the Seal of Prophets, but do not say that there will be no Prophet after him. ( Ad-Durrul-Manth u r fit-Tafs i ri bil-Ma’th u r, Im a m Jalal- ud-D i n as-Suyū t i, vol. 6, p. 545, S u rah al-A h z a b , 33:41, D a ru I h y a ’it-Tur a th al-‘Arabiyy, Beirut, first ed. , 2001. ) Sheikhul-Imam, Hadrat Ibn-e-Qat i bah rta (died 267 AH), after quoting this saying of Hadrat A’ishah ra, writes: َ َنَّه ُ أَرَاد ِأ الل َُّ عَلَيْه ِ وَسَلَّم َ ل َ نَبِي َّ بَعْدِي ل ی َّ ْس َ هٰذَا مِن ْ قَوْلِهَا، نَاقِضًا لِقَوْل ِ النَّبِي ِّ صَل ی َ ل ل َ نَبِي َّ بَعْدِيْ، يَنْسَخ ُ مَا جِئْت ُ بِهِ.
