27 October 1905 59 The Criterion for a True Revelation maulaw i [ sah ib]— What is revelation? Even I receive revelation. (Later, it came to be known that the name of this maulaw i is Ni za m- ud-D i n, and he teaches boys in a mosque. ) The Promised Messiah as — Any revelation not supported by the Sign of heavenly support is unacceptable to me. Claimants of such revelation have existed in the time of every Prophet. If you possess any Sign, show it. In the meantime, Hadrat Maulaw i Muhammad A h san took out a lex- icon, Mukht a r a s - S i hah , and showed Maulaw i Sahib that the meaning of ْ تَوَفِّی ْ تَوَفِّی [ tawaff i ] is to cause to die. maulaw i sah ib— I do not believe in lexicons. However, all right, I accept. If Jesus has died, show his corpse. The Promised Messiah as — When death has been proven it is sufficient. Where are the corpses of Abraham and Moses? maulaw i [ sah ib]— Where is the one-eyed Dajj a l [Antichrist]? The Promised Messiah as — If you take things like this liter- ally, great difficulties will arise. The Holy Quran says whoever is blind in this world will also be blind in the Hereafter, so does this mean that all those who are blind will collectively go to Hell in any case, even though they commit the entire Quran to memory and are Muslims?
