His Humane Statutes. . He always laid emphasis on the point that. Muslims should never be the first to attack; they should on the other hand fight only for defence. He always enjoined upon his followers never to kill in battle women, children, clergymen old men and those who were unfit for war. . He taught that thoso who lay down their arms should not be killed. Trees should not be out down, buildings should not be demolished, towns and valleys should not be ravaged, and if he aver came to to know that these instructions were violated he was very much displeased and became angry with the man who did so.
