12 HADRAT MARIYAH QIBTIYYAH of H unain. 4 While Hadrat M a riyah Qib t iyyah ra and her sister Hadrat S i r i n ra were on their way to Mad i nah, the missionary of Islam, Hadrat Hat ib bin Ab i Balta‘ah ra travelled with them. During the long journey, he taught the sisters about Islam and explained the teachings of Islam to them. Both sisters were very impressed by the message. Since they were pious to begin with, they developed a love for Islam in their hearts after hearing about it. Thus, both sisters accepted Islam during the journey at the hand of Hadrat Hat ib ra. 5 After their marriage, the Holy Prophet sa temporarily housed Hadrat M a riyah Qib t iyyah ra in the house of Hadrat Ha rithah bin Nu‘m a n ra near the mosque. Then after a short while he took her to a place called ‘ A liyah, which later came to be known as Mashrabah Ibr a h i m ra. One Egyptian servant was assigned to serve Hadrat M a riyah Qib t iyyah ra. This servant used to bring her water and fuel. 6
