The marriage of her sister S i r i n ra was arranged with Arabia’s famous poet, H ass a n bin Th a bit ra. This M a riyah ra is the same blessed woman who had the honour of giving birth to a son of the Holy Prophet sa , Hadrat Ibr a h i m ra. 1 The name of the father of Ummul-Mu’min i n Hadrat M a riyah ra was Sham‘ u n, and her mother’s name was R u m i. Hadrat M a riyah ra was born in a town called H afan. She was tall and had a fair complexion. She was very beautiful. 2 ‘All a mah Dhahab i ra has written in A‘l a mun-Nis a ’ that Hadrat M a riyah ra was the most learned and accomplished woman of her time. When Governor Maqauqas sent Hadrat M a riyah Qib t iyyah ra and her sister Hadrat S i r i n ra to the Holy Prophet sa , he also sent along with them one thousand gold coins, twenty rolls of white fabric, and a mule named Duldul for the Holy Prophet sa. 3 The mule named Duldul was white. The Holy Prophet sa used to ride it often, and he rode it during the battle
