The Gulf Crisis & The New World Order so then the Divine promise of the dominance of God's servants over 'The Promised Land' (Al-An:), will not be fulfilled in their favour. Al An: may mean Palestine, or even the whole world. As long as such righteous men of God are not born who practice the pure, everlasting and victorious principles of the Holy Quran, no victory - not even a worldly victory would be destined for them. The Muslim hearts are bleeding al their contention that as the allies were on the side of "Truth", therefore, the truth has triumphed over "Falsehood". This is certainly not true. In this context there is another thing which need to be brought to your notice. An American General kepi on harping that their soldiers had 'white' hats while the Iraqis were wearing 'black' ones. This is an ignorant fictional notion of the West; that all expert pistol marksmen wear white hats, while the villains, who are always defeated are shown to wear black hats. The fact is that this was not a war between the white and the black. To strengthen their claim, they have said that Saddam Hussein was so cruel and heartless that he tortured and killed the Kurds with chemical weapons and then completely erased their village upon village by aerial bombardment. If this is true, and may be it is true, then this too is a heinous Crime. Whoever did it, will be answerable to God and posterity. But this is not the complete picture of events. We have to find out as to who is the real culprit and who prompted Saddam Hussein towards this foul play and how he was taught such an evil; we shall have to go back to the pages of history. THE REAL CULPRIT The British Policy in 1920 was to force the Kurds into subjugation of Iraq, to which they naturally revolted. At this, the British army of that time dropped chemical bombs on the weak and defenceless Kurds and mercilessly massacred them in the thousands! Even after that, they continued to bombard their villages for years. This massacre had such a terrible effect even on the conscience of the perpetrators that in 1923 a high ranking British Officer Air Commodore Lionel Charlton resigned as a mark of protest, saying that this was so cruel and that it was beyond his level of his tolerance. We hear that Saddam Hussein committed similar crimes in Iran. He dropped chemical bombs on the Iranian army and even on the civil population, thus killing a large number of soldiers and civilians.
