of celibacy and who in order to satisfy their suppressed desires might have fabricated such teachings and attributed them to the Vedas۔Some Hindu scholars maintain that there was a time when the Vedas were greatly interpolated, corrupting the pure and sacred teaching۔Otherwise it is hard to believe that the Vedas contained such teachings۔Nor does an unsullied concience of a man agree to it that he may himself make his chaste wife sleep with some other person merely for having children without having first legally divorced her۔This is an abomination and an act of a cuckold alone۔However, if a woman has obtained divorce from her husband and has severed all matrimonial relations it will be lawful for her to marry another person۔This would neither be objectionable for her, nor would her chastity be stigmatised۔Otherwise we declare, most emphatically, that the practice of neog will certainly be disastrous۔On one hand the people of the Arya Samaj are against the practice of observing the veil (Purdah) by their women rejecting it as a muslim custom, and on the other hand when the teachings of 'neog' are being drummed into their heads and the Vedic permission to have sex with persons other than their husbands becomes obvious۔Any reasonable person can imagine that this will create havoc and arouse lustful passions in their hearts۔This flood of unholy desires will eat up and destroy their morals۔Examples of such disastrous occurences are found in places like Jagan Nath and Banarus and other areas (where Hindus assemble in very large numbers for celebrations)۔One would long for some understanding soul to arise amongst these people and rectify۔their beliefs۔It is difficult for us to comprehend as to why it is essential to have children for the attainment of salvation۔Are people like Pandat Daya Nand who never married and had no children deprived of salvation? Such a salvation should be condemned, which is achieved by having one's wife sleep with some other individual and have her commit an act which could only be considered adultry۔Another aspect which is beyond our comprehension is the philosophy that life on earth is not generated as a completely new creation۔Every living thing that exists, though not eternal in itself, is composed of eternal constituents۔The earth 3
