The commentary of al-Qa si dah 87 church, he feared that future Muslims may use that as an excuse to take over the church and convert it into a mosque and this would prove to be very painful for the Christians. He walked out of the church and offered his prayers near the stairway at which place there is a small mosque now. 9 Another beautiful fruit of the garden of Islam was Ab u ‘Ubaidah ra. He received orders from the headquarters that Muslim armies should move out from the city of H am s and other towns of Syria and move into another sector. Hadrat Ab u ‘Ubaidah ra called the leaders of that city and informed them that they would be moving out and would not be able to provide them protection, therefore the jizyah [protection tax] that was collected in that year would be returned. The Christians of the city were in tears to see this honourable treatment and expressed that they could not imagine even a Christian government treating them in this manner.
