82 They hated being called Hindus. But having gotten involved in politics, they happily declare themselves to be Hindus just to ingratiate themselves with their Hindu brothers—those same brothers who were rather orthodox in their manners—just to be successful in politics and increase their lobby. When asked whether they are Hindus or A ryas, they harshly answer, ‘what do you mean by A ryas or Hindus? We are all Hindus. ’ As a matter of fact, they are now joining hands with those whom they earlier used to despise and are welcoming them with open arms to extend and establish their own lobby. But this mixing up with others in order to strengthen their own group has consequently produced the same result that had been prophesied by the Promised Messiah as , which was that day by day they will be erased, and all traces of them will be lost and the day will come when the A ryah religion will be totally gone because this nation enveloped itself in politics and politics has no religion; and so their politics will remain but their religion will disappear. In short, politics cannot function without the forming of lobbies and groups. But when a group tries to strengthen itself by including others in it, it will have to sacrifice its own distinct characteristics and when a nation loses its distinction, it loses all its glory and gets totally destroyed. In 1907, when there were signs of a violent disturbance in the Punjab, and some mischievous people had spread fury among the public against the government, some distinguished lawyers held banquets in the honour of the Muslims sitting together with each other, eating at one place and putting aside every difference of caste or religion. Why did this take place? It only happened to extend the lobby. For those who are more deeply involved in politics, if you are to ask them what religion they follow, their answer would be that
