67 until now, they should make the decision now. For it is God who has appointed the Khalifah and no man has anything to do with it. If you deny this truth, then you will have to deny the truth of the Promised Messiah as. Therefore, accept the truth and do not cause discord amongst the Jam a ‘at. I am but a humble servant of the Jam a ‘at through whom God wills to bring unity to its members. Otherwise, as for this work, that is all of God. I never wanted to be a Khalifah , nor do I have any obsession about it now. God Himself appointed me to perform this task. It is not due to my own efforts that I have attained this position. Therefore, you must understand that while God had already informed me of the dispute regarding Khilafat , the Divine support for it, the year and the month of the demise of Hadrat Khalifatul Masih I ra , his will, my hearing of his death in the car as well as the condition of his illness; how on earth was it possible for me to have any doubt about divine plans even for a second? This was besides the fact that certain other visions had already been fulfilled making it clear to me that the divine Will wanted me to be the next Khalifah [after Hadrat Khalifatul Masih I ra ]. While the vision had clearly foretold that I would be opposed, yet succeed, how could I then pay any attention to the words of those people who advised me to abandon the robe of Khilafat ? Can I act against the Will of God? As a matter of fact, if I do so, I will be rejecting God’s decision in this regard. May Allah guard me against any such move. What God willed, came to pass; and what people desired, did not come to pass. Blessed indeed is he who accepts the verdict of God and does not try to stubbornly reject the testimonies that have come from God.
