29 work so long as I am living and after my demise God will raise someone else in my place. My worry about the work that God has assigned to me will last only until the time I am living’. Therefore, I worry least about what would happen after I have passed away. This Movement has been initiated by God Almighty, so He Himself will look after it. Has Khilafat Assumed a Hereditary Characteristic? As for the statement of ignorant people who say that Khilafat has now become a succession by heredity, I declare by God that I do not at all consider it lawful that a son should inherit Khilafat from his father. However, it would be a different matter if God Himself appointed someone as Khalifah after his father. Otherwise, like Hadrat Umar ra , I am of the opinion that a son should not inherit Khilafat from his father.
