7 A sinGULAR Vow T he people of the Quraish were the most highly respected people in all of Arabia; and the tribe of Ban u H a shim was considered the most noble from among the Quraish. ‘Abdul- Mu tt alib bin H a shim was the head of this tribe and a chief of Makkah.
