•oUR BELoVED MASTER• 181 The Holy Prophet sa explained, “Today I was in Cave H ir a remembering God, when I saw a very magnificent being that came down from the sky and while embracing me said ‘Read’. After that he recited a few verses to me and then vanished into thin air. That is all. ” Waraqah bin Naufal listened to the whole account carefully. He then asked, “Do you remember the verses that he recited to you?” The Holy Prophet sa answered, “Yes, I remember them very well. ” After that the Holy Prophet sa recited all the verses that had been revealed in the cave. After listening to the verses Waraqah bin Naufal said, “Mu h ammad, you are the most fortunate person, I give you glad tidings of being a Prophet and Messenger. The being that you saw was that very same angel that Hadrat M u s a as [Moses] saw. The verses that he recited to you, I swear to you by God, they were words that came from God Himself. If I live until such a time that you are driven out of here by your country, then I will most certainly come to your aid. By God I pray that I stay alive until that time, but the odds are against me as I have become very weak and old. My hands and feet no
