•oUR BELoVED MASTER• 180 purity told them that these idols were nothing, their cur- rent state of mind was unable to show them the true path towards Allah the Almighty. This path to Allah could not be seen without the pure light and guidance of Allah. Those people, who had become fed up and left idol worship, were but a few. One was Zaid bin ‘Amr u , the oth- er was known as Qais bin S a ‘idah and another one was named ‘Uthm a n bin H uwairith. But out of all those that had left idol worship, the most renowned was the promi- nent Waraqah bin Naufal. He had left idol worship and had become a Christian. Waraqah bin Naufal had mastered the meanings of the Old Testament, the Book of Zab u r and the New Tes- tament, as well as the prophecies of those prophets that had passed before and their religious scriptures. Within the Quraish, Waraqah bin Naufal was very well respected. Khad i jah ra took her husband to Waraqah bin Naufal and said “Cousin, today a very strange happening took place with my husband. I want you to listen to his account and tell us what this means. ” The elderly Waraqah bin Naufal said “Sir, tell me what happened?”
