B AR Ā H Ī N-E-A H M ADIY YA — PART F IV E 468 I will exalt you to Myself and cause you to die’]. They seem to imply that God made a mistake in giving precedence to متوفّیك [I will cause you to die] over رافعك [I will exalt you to Myself ] and saying یا عیسٰی انّی. ّ متوفّیك و رافعك الی [‘O Jesus, I will cause you to die and exalt you towards Myself ’] whereas He should have said یا عیسٰی انّی رافعك الی ّ و متوفّیك [‘O Jesus, I will exalt you towards Myself and cause you to die’]. Alas, what a terrible thing bigotry is that in order to support it they distort the Book of Allah! This act of distortion is the same vile act that led the Jews to be called accursed and their features to be defaced. And now these people are ready to distort the Holy Quran! And had there not been the promise: 1 اَّنِا ُنْحَن اَنْلَّزَن َرْكِّذلا َو اَّنِا ٗهَل َنْوُظِفٰحَل it would not be beyond them to change the verse of the Holy Quran ّ إنّی متوفّیك و رافعك إلی [‘I will cause you to die and will exalt you to Myself ’] and instead write یا عیسٰی اِنِّی رافعك إلی ّ و متوفّیك [‘O Jesus, I will exalt you towards Myself and cause you to die’]. However, such distortion also was not possible since Almighty God has made four promises in this verse, as He says: 1. Verily, We Ourself have sent down this Exhortation, and most surely We will be its Guardian ( S u rah al- H ijr, 15:10). [Publisher] 2. O Jesus, I will cause you to die a natural death ( S u rah A l-e-‘Imr a n, 3:56). [Publisher] 3. And will exalt you to Myself ( S u rah A l-e-‘Imr a n, 3:56). [Publisher] 4. And will clear thee from the charges of those who disbelieve ( S u rah A l-e- ‘Imr a n, 3:56). [Publisher] 5. And will place those who follow thee above those who disbelieve, until the Day of Resurrection ( S u rah A l-e-‘Imr a n, 3:56). [Publisher]
