131 started studying religion. I became a minister of the Gospel in 1957. My ministry gave me a good insight into the Bible. I became somewhat confused. On one hand they say you should call on Jesus for help and the other hand God says, I am a jealous God, thou shall have no gods before me. From here I began to search for the right way, the Bible was not that. My first contact with Isl ā m was in 1960, one year after my marriage. I met an old army buddy Shaikh Mu ḥ ammad who was a Sunn ī Muslim. He told me about Isl ā m, the fundamentals of Isl ā m, Mu ḥ ammad (peace be upon him) being the prophet for all mankind. This impressed me very Bil ā l ‘Abdus Sal ā m with Mun ī r Ḥā mid.
