132 much. The other thing was that Jesus was a prophet of God and not His son, this gave my soul a great relief. I did not believe in Jesus’ son-ship anyway, with this I felt that I was on the right track. I remained with Shaikh for a year. One day he was reading the Qur’ ā n and inside the Qur’ ā n I saw written A ḥ madiyyah Movement in Isl ā m, and I asked him what is A ḥ madiyyah. He said, They are not Muslims. I inquired, Why then are you reading their book? He said, They write good books. The next question I asked him was where were they. Then he told me where they were but then he said, Don’t go there, if you do, don’t come back here. So that’s what I did exactly. When I went there to the A ḥ madiyyah book store, the first thing that I saw was the photograph of Ḥ a ḍ rat Mirz ā Ghul ā m A ḥ mad, the Promised Messiah, and I asked the person there, who was an A ḥ mad ī named Ẓ afar Bash ī r, Who is he? And he began to explain it to me. Though I later found that he belonged to the Anjuman Ish ā ‘at-i-Isl ā m group, and did not follow the ways of the movement, but he told me about Ḥ a ḍ rat Mirz ā Ghul ā m A ḥ mad, the Promised Messiah and about him being the second coming of the Chirst. That conversation about Ḥ a ḍ rat Mirz ā Ghul ā m A ḥ mad, the Promised Messiah was soul uplifting for me. We talked for two hours and I was convinced about the truth of Ḥ a ḍ rat Mirz ā Ghul ā m A ḥ mad, the Promised Messiah. After the conversation I felt as though a heavy burden was lifted from me. My soul felt very light and my heart was full of joy, “I have found the truth, Al- Ḥ amdu Lill ā h. ” In the same year I met Mun ī r Ḥā mid. We became very brotherly. I myself being a new A ḥ mad ī , he gave me some books on A ḥ madiyyah in Isl ā m. The first was the Philosophy of the Teachings of Isl ā m. When I read this book it gave me a real understanding of the true Isl ā m. I put aside all of my books that were written by the Sunn ī Muslims and read nothing but A ḥ mad ī
