PRAYERS 104 Prayers on Waking up from Sleep Hadrat H udaifah ra narrates that the Holy Prophet sa used to say this prayer upon waking up: َْ ْ اَحل ْ ﻤ ْﺪُ ﻟِﻠªِّٰ اﻟَّﺬِی ْ اَﺣ ﺑَﻌ ْ ﻴَﺎﻧَﺎ وَاِﻟَﻴ اَﻣَﺎﺗَﻨَﺎ ْ ﺪَ ﻣَﺎ ُ ªِ اﻟﻨُّﺸُﻮ ر. 208 All praise belongs to All a h , who granted us life after death and to Him is the return. Hadrat Ab u Hurairah ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa told us to recite this prayer upon waking up: َْ ْ اَحل ْ ﻤ ِْﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠªّٰ ِ اﻟَّﺬِی 2َِْﺎﻓَﺎىن ْىف َﺟَﺴَﺪِی ْ و رَد َّ 2َ_ ََّ رُو ِْ Á ِْ ْ،و َ اَذِن َ ىل ﺑِﺬِک ﺮِہ. 209 All praise belongs to All a h , who bestowed health and safety upon my body, returned my soul and enabled me to remember Him. Hadrat ‘Ub a dah bin A s-Sa mit ra relates that if a person startles in his sleep and wakes up. If he recites these words and supplicates for a need, God accepts that prayer. If he performs ablution and stands up for s al a t , God grants his prayer special acceptance. ْ ﻻ َ اِﻟªٰ َ اِﻻ َّ اﻟﻠªّٰ ُ وَﺣ ﺪَہ ْ ﻻ َ ﺷَﺮِﻳ ªَﻟ َ ک ُْ ْ ،ﻟªَ ُ امل َْ ﻠ ْ ک ُ و َ ﻟªَ ُ احل ِّ ﻤ ُﻞL ٰ _َ2 َ ﺪ ُ و َ ﻫُﻮ َْ Õ ْ َْ ء ٍ ﻗَﺪِﻳ ْ ﺮٌ، وَاحل ْ ﻤ ﺳُﺒ،ِªّٰﺪ ُ ﻟِﻠ َ ِ ﺤَﺎن ُ اﷲ ْوَﻻ َ اِﻟªٰ َ اِﻻ َّ اﻟﻠªّٰ وَاﻟﻠªُّٰ اَک َربَُ، ْ وَﻻ ْ ﺣَﻮ ْ لَ وَ ﻻَ ﻗُﻮَّةَ اِﻻَّ ﺑِﺎﷲِ،اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢَّ اﻏ ﻔِﺮ ىلِ. 210 There is none worthy of worship except All a h. He is One and has no partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise. He has authority over everything. All praise belongs to Him. Holy is He. There is none worthy of worship except Him. He is the Greatest. All power and might belongs to Him. O All a h , forgive me.
