PRAYERS 105 taught him this prayer to recite at night: ْ ْ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ رَب َّ اﻟﺴَّﻤٰﻮَات ِ اﻟﺴَّﺒ ْ ﻊ ِ و َ ﻣَﺎ اَﻇَﻠَّﺖ و َ رَب َّ اﻻَْر ، َْ ﺿِني ْوَﻣَﺎ ِْ اَﻗَﻠَّﺖ ْ ،وَرَبَّ اﻟﺸَّﻴَﺎﻃِني ْو َ ﻣَﺎ اَﺿَﻠَّﺖ کُﻦ،ِّْ ْىل ﻣِﻦ ْﺟَﺎرًا ْ ﺷَﺮِّ ﺧَﻠ ْﻘِک َ Lُﻠِّﻬِﻢ ْ مجَِﻴ َّﻌًﺎ،اَن ْ ﻳ ْ ﻔ ْﺮُط َ 2َ_ ََّ اَﺣَﺪ ٌ ،اَو َّاَن ْ ﻳ َّ ﺒ َِ 2َ_ ََّ ، ﻋَﺰ َّ ﺟَﺎرُک َ و َ ﺟَﻞè ُ ٴ ُْ ﺛَﻨَﺎو وَﻻَ اِﻟªَٰ 5َري ،َک ْ ﻻَ اِﻟªَٰ اِﻻَّ اَﻧ ،َک َ ﺖ. 211 O All a h , Lord of the seven heavens and everything that is below them, Creator of seven earths and everything that is flourishing on them. Lord of the Satans and of the beings misguided by them, You be my shield against the evil in every creature, lest it harms me and transgresses against me. Your shelter is most dignified and Your praise is high. There is none worthy of worship except You and I affirm that there is none worthy of worship except You. Prayer on Seeing a Nightmare Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Amr ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa said that if someone is scared in sleep and offers this prayer, nothing will harm him. Hadrat ‘Abdull a h ra made his children memorise this prayer. Hadrat M a lik bin Anas ra narrates Kh a lid bin Wal i d ra used to have nightmares and the Holy Prophet sa taught him this prayer: ْ ُ اَﻋُﻮ ْ ذ ﺑِ¤َﻠِﻤَﺎت ِ اﷲ ِ اﻟﺘَّﺎﻣَّﺔ ِ ﻣِﻦ ﻏَﻀَﺒªِ َ ِ و ﺷَﺮ ِّ ﻋِﺒَﺎد ہ ، ْ ِوَﻣِﻦ ْ مهََﺰَات ِ اﻟﺸَّﻴ ْﻄَﺎن َّْوَاَن ْ حي ﻀُﺮُو نِ. 212 I seek refuge in God's complete and perfect words, from His wrath, His chastisement, the evil which is in His mankind; satanic insinuations and that I might confront those things.
