PRAYERS 108 absent ones, our young ones, and our old ones, and our males and our females. O All a h , to whomsoever from amongst us You grant life, keep him alive in the state of submission and whomsoever You cause to die, cause him to die in faith. O All a h , deprive us not of the benefits relating to the deceased and subject us not to any ordeal after him. Note: If the funeral prayer is for a woman then the personal pronoun "lah a " instead of "lah u " should be said to denote the feminine gender. Funeral Prayer for a Minor Hadrat Im a m H asan bin ‘Al i ra narrates that for a child this funeral prayer should be recited after S u rah Al- F a ti h ah. ْ ْ اَﻟﻠّٰﻬُﻢ َّ اﺟ َّ ﻌَﻠ ªَّ ُ ﻟَﻨَﺎ ﺳَﻠَﻔًﺎ و ْﻓَﺮَﻃًﺎ و َّ ذُﺧ ْﺮًا و َّ اَﺟ ْﺮًا و ْ اﺟ ﻌَﻠ ªَ ُ ﻟَﻨَﺎ ﺷَﺎﻓِﻌًﺎ و ﻣُﺸَﻔَّﻌًﺎ. 219 O All a h , make this child, who has departed early, our forerunner and make him a source of reward. Make him our pleader and accept his pleading for us. Note: For a girl, ِ ْ ا ْ ﺟ ﻌَﻠ óَﺎ (Ij‘alh a ), ً ﺷﺎﻓﻌﺔ (Sh a fi‘atun)and ً ﻣﺸﻔﻌﺔ (Mushaffa‘atun), should be recited. Prayer on Placing the Dead Body in the Grave Hadrat ‘Abdull a h bin ‘Umar ra relates that the Holy Prophet sa used to recite these prayers on placing the body in the grave: ْ ٰ ﺑِﺴ ْ ﻢ◌ِِ اﷲِ وَﺑِﺎﷲِ و2ََ_ ِﻣِﻠَّﺔِ رَﺳُﻮ لِ اﷲ. In the name of All a h , with His support and as the follower of All a h 's Messenger, (Muhammad sa ). ْ ٰ ﺑِﺴ ْﻢِ اﷲِ وَﺑِﺎﷲِ وَ 2َ_ ِ ﺳُﻨَّﺔِ رَﺳُﻮ لِ اﷲ.
