T E S T I MON Y OF T HE HOLY Q U R AN 106 clearly states that just as Hadrat M u s a as was a witness over the good and evil deeds of his ummah, so is our Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, a witness. But Hadrat M u s a ’s as being a permanent witness was not possible except through khil a fat; i. e. God Almighty established a series of Khulaf a ’ for 1,400 years to fulfil this purpose. They were, in fact, servants of the Torah and appeared in support of the shariah of Hadrat M u s a as so that God Almighty may perfectly fulfil the purpose of Hadrat M u s a as being a witness through them and they should be able to bear witness before God Almighty about all Children of Israel on the Day of Judgement. Similarly, Allah the Lord of Glory has made the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, a witness over the whole Muslim ummah and has said, 1 ۤاَّنِا ۤاَنْلَسْرَا ْمُكْيَلِا اًلْوُسَر١ۙ۬ اًدِهاَش ْمُكْيَلَع and said, 2 َو اَنْئِج َكِب ىٰلَع ِءٓاَلُؤٰۤه اًدْيِهَش But it is clear that on the face of it, the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, remained for only twenty-three years in his ummah. Then the question as to how he can be a witness over his ummah forever, has only one answer, and that is 1. Verily, We have sent to you a Messenger, who is a witness over you ( S u rah al-Muzzammil, 73:16) [Publisher] 2. And shall bring thee as a witness against these! ( S u rah an-Nis a ’, 4:42) [Publisher]
