59th JALSA AT QADIAN Thousand Ahmadiyas Present (From Our Own Correspondent) -- QADIAN, Dec۔28۔After nearly 24 years, 56 Ahmediya Muslims including two women, headed by Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, arrived here on Sunday from Pakistan for the 59th Annual Jalsa of the Ahmediya community of Qadian۔Simultaneously, 138 Indian Ahmadiya Muslims including four women and five children drawn from all parts of the country arrived here on Sunday۔They were escorted to the Ahmediya colony in the town and were lodged in different houses۔Touching scenes were witnessed when the Indian Ahmadiyas met the Pakistani Ahmediyas۔All of them offered prayers both in the mosque and at the Bahishti graveyard۔Closely guarded by armed police and their own volunteers, the Jalsa was held in the previous year's compound and was attended by about 1,000 persons in all۔Among the visitors was Major-General Abdur Rehman, Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner in Jullundur۔Maulvi Abdur Rehman Jatt, head of the local Ahmediyas, inaugurated the Jalsa, describing it as the third after partition, and read out messages from distinguished Ahmediyas and heads of branches from all parts of the world۔Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, who headed the delegation from Pakis- tan, then occupied the Chair۔He mentioned how Hazrat Mirza Bashir- ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad owing to pre-occupations could not send them a special message this year but he had come to see them off and had in his blessings asked them to carry on with faith in God۔He had also said that there could be peace in the world through faith in God۔
