(American Edition) 24 یُؤۡفَکُوۡن َ ﴿﴾ َِن ی یی ت ِ ثُم َ انۡظُر ۡ ا ۡلۡی َُہُُ ا َّی ُِ ل َ ؕ اُنۡظُر ۡ کَیۡف َ نُب ن ِ الطَعَام ی کَانَا یَاۡکُل “The Messiah, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger, All messengers before him have passed away. And his mother was a truthful woman. Both of them used to eat food. See how we explain the signs for their good, and see how they are turned away. ” (5[Al-M ā’idah]:76) ِ ِٰلَ َ وَمُطَہ ِِن ِۡ مُتَوَفِیۡک َ وَرَافِعُک َ ا ُ یی عِیۡسی ی ا ّلل ی اِذ ۡ قَال َ ا ّل َِیۡن َ کَفَرُوۡا ۡ رُک َ مِن َ ا ِٰلَ َ مَرۡجِعُکُم ثُم َ ا ۚ ِ یَوۡم ِ الۡقِیی مَۃ ِٰلی ّل َِیۡن َ کَفَرُوۡۤا ا ّل َِیۡن َ اتَبَعُوۡک َ فَوۡق َ ا وَجَاعِل ُ ا فَاَحۡکُم ُ بَیۡنَکُم ۡ فِیۡمَا کُنۡتُم ۡ فِیۡہ ِ تَخۡتَلِفُوۡن َ ﴿﴾ “When Allāh said, O Jesus, I will cause th ee to die a natural death* and will exalt thee to Myself, and will clear thee from the charges of those who disbelieve, and will place those who follow thee above those who disbelieve, until the Day of Resurrection; then to Me shall be your return, and I will judge between you concerning that wherein you differ. ”(3 [ Ā l ‘Imrān]:56) * The word Mutawaffīka is derived from the Arabic word tawaffā, which means death. َ و ۚ ۡ َِب ِۡ وَرَبَکُم َ ر ّلل ی َِنِۡ بِہ ٖۤ اَن ِ اعۡبُدُوا ا ِۡل َ مَا ۤ اَمَرۡت َُہُۡ ا مَا قُلۡت ُ ل ُۡہِۡ شَہِیۡدًا ُۡہِۡ ؕ کُنۡت ُ عَلَی َِنِۡ کُنۡت َ اَنۡت َ الرَقِیۡب َ عَلَی ُۡہِۡ ۚ فَلَمَا تَوَفَیۡت مَا دُمۡت ُ فِی ٌ ِ َشَۡء ٍ شَہِیۡد کُل َٰۤلی و َ اَنۡت َ ع ﴿﴾ “I (Jesus) said nothing to them except that which thou didst command me ‘Worship Allāh, my Lord and your Lord,’ And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them but since thou didst cause me to die, Thou hast been the watcher over them; and thou art Witness over all things. ” (5 [Al-M āi’dah ]:118) The Holy Qur’ān clearly states in the following verse that a deceased person can never return physically: َُہُۡ ۡلَ یَرۡجِعُوۡن َ ﴿﴾ ہَا ۤاَن ی قَرۡیَۃ ٍاَہۡلَکۡن َٰۤلی و َ حَری م ٌ ع “And it is an inviolable law for a township which we have destroyed that they shall not retur n. ” (21[Al - Anbiyā]:96) It is also declared in the Holy Qur’ān that all creatures being worshipped, as Jesus is by Christians, are not living:
