 (American Edition)   15  O my Lord, my Allāh, I wronged my soul and confess all my sins; pray, forgive me my sins, for there is none els e except Thee to forgive. Ā mīn! This section studies the ‘Declaration’ closely with supportive references explaining the significance of each of the nine points in light of the Holy Qur’ān, A ḥādīth (sayings of the Holy Prophet) and statements by revered Islāmic scholars. 1. Origin of the Name ‘A ḥ madiyya’? “Please accept me into the fold of the A ḥ madiyya Muslim Jamā‘at. ” In order to explain the name A ḥ madiyya, the following verse of the Holy Qur’ān should be presented: “And remember when Jesus, son of Mary, said, ‘O children of Israel, surely I am Allāh’s Messenger unto you, fulfilling that which is before me of the Torah, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger who will come after me. His name will be A ḥmad. ’ And when he came to them with clear proofs, they said, ‘This is clear enchantment. ’” (61 [Al- Ṣ aff]:7) “Aḥmad,” as mentioned in this verse, refers to the Holy Prophet Muḥ ammad. Mu ḥ ammad and A ḥmad both carry the same meaning of ‘the praised one. ’ Hence, the A ḥmadiyya Muslim Jamā‘at was named after the Holy Prophet and not, as non- A ḥmadīs think, after Ḥ a ḍ rat Mirzā Ghulām Aḥ mad, who was his most perfect follower. His name actually means, “servant of Aḥ mad. ” In essence, every Muslim should in fact be an ‘Aḥmadī’. The following Ḥadīth states that the Muslim Ummah (people) will become divided and only one division would be true: ِ َِضَِ ہللا عَنْھُمَا قَال َ قَال َ رَسُوْل ُ ہللا ِ َعَْرو ر عَن ْ عَبْد ِ ہللا ِ بْن ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص ُ َِیََّ عَل ہ ا َِِّْ لَيَاْت َْ م َِنِْ اِس ََتَ ب َ مَا عَل ہ ا ََتَ اُمَّہ ُ ع ًَلَنِيَّۃ ا ل ََکَن ََِّ اِن ْ َكَن َ مِنْھُم ْ مَن ْ ا َ آئِيْل َ حَذُو َ ا النَّعْل ِ َبِالنَّعل ِ ح َِیَْ مِلَّۃ ا و َ ت َبْع ََیِْ و َ س َِنِْ اِسَْآئِيْل َ تَفَرَّقَت ْ عَل ہ الثْنَت َِِّْ مَن ْ یَّصْنَع ُ ذہلَک َ وَاِن َّ ب ُ ِفِْ اُم رَتَِ ُُ ف َ عَل َِِّْ ِاُم َ َیَ رَسُوْل َ ہللا ْ ِفِ النَّار ِ اِل َّ مِلَّۃ ا وَّاحِدَۃ ا قَالُوْا مَن ْ ھِی َکَُّھُم ا َِیَْ مِلَّۃ َبْع ث ًَلَث ٍ و َ س ِْ َْصَْاب قَال َ مَا ا ََنَ عَلَيْہ ِ وَا (ترمزی کتاب الامیان) Ḥ a ḍ rat Abdull āh bin ‘Amr relates that the Holy Prophet said: “Surely things w ill happen to my people as happened earlier to the Israelites. They will resemble each other like one shoe in a pair resembles the other to the extent that if among the Israelites someone had openly committed adultery with his mother, there will be some who would do this in my Ummah as well. The Israelites were divided into 72 sects, but my people will be divided into 73 sects. All of them will be in the fire except one. The
